It is certainly true that a con templation of " the unthinkable vastness of the universe, in the I midst of which we dwell upon a speck illuminated by a spark, is calculated to make all terrestrial affairs appear contemptibly insig nificant. "We cannot wonder that men for ages regarded the earth as the center, and the heavens with their lights as tributary to it, for to have thought otherwise, in those times, would have been to see things from the point of view of a superior intelligence. It has taken a vast amount of experience and knowledge to convince men of the parvitude of themselves and their belongings. So, in all ages they have applied a terrestrial measure to the universe, and im agined they could behold human affairs reflected in the heavens and human interests setting the gods together by the cars. This is certainly shown in the story of the constellations. The tremendous truth that on a starry night we look, in ever' direction, into almost an endless vista of suns beyond suns and systems upon systems, was too overwhelming for comprehension Ify the inven tors of the constellations. So they amused themselves, like imagina tive children, as they were, by tracing the outlines of men and beasts formed by those pretty lights, the stars. They turned the starry heavens into a scioll filled with pictured stories of my thology." Four of the constella tions with which we are going to deal in this article, are particular ly interesting on this account. They preserve in the stars, more lasting than parchment or stone, one oE the oldest and most pleas ing of all the romantic stories that have amused and inspired the minds of men the storv of Per seus and Andomeda a better story than any that modern novel ists have invented. G Is often the beginning of serions affec tions of the Throat, Bronchial Tubes, and Lungs. Therefore, the importance of early and effective treatment cannot be overestimated. Ayer's Cherry Pec toral may always be relied upon for the speedy cure of a Cold or Cough. Last January I was attacked with a severe Cold, which, by neglect and fre quent exposures, became worse, finallv settling on my lungs. A terrible cough soon followed, accompanied by pains in the chest, from which I suffered intense ly. After trying various remedies, with out obtaining Telief , I commenced taking Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and was Speedily Cured. I am satisfied that this remedy saved mv life. Jno. "Webster, Pawtucket, R. I. " I contracted a severe cold, which suddenly developed into Pneumonia, presenting dangerous and obstinate symptoms. My- physician ordered the use of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. His in structions were followed, and the result was a rapid and permanent cure. H. E. Stimpson, Rogers Prairie, Tex. Two years ago I suffered from a severe Cold, which settled, on my Lungs. I con sulted various physicians, and took the medicines thoy prescribed, but received only temporary relief. A friend induced me to try Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. After taking two bottles of this medicine I was cured. Since then I have giwn the Pec toral to my children, and. consider it The Best Remedy for Colds, Coughs, and all Throat and Lung diseases, ever used in my family. Robert Vandcrpool, Meadville, Pa. Some timo ago I took a slight Cold, which, being neglected, grew worse, and settled on my Lungs. I had a hacking cough, and was very weak. Those who knew mo best considered my lifo to bo in rreat danger. I continued to suffer until I commenced using Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. Less than one bottle of this valuable medicine cured me, and I feel that I owe the preservation of my life to its curative powers. Jlrs. Ann Lockwood, Akron, Kew York. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral is considered, here, the one great remedy for all diseases of the throat and lungs, and is more in demand than any other medicine of its class. J. F.
