Andrew Carnegie, who is a Scotchman by birth and an Amer ican by adoption, said in a recent interview that he had not a doubt th.it Gladstone's liberal plan for the government of Ireland would soon prevail. The bitterness of the contest now raging' in Great Britain exceeds anything ever known in tins country. The con servatives app ar to be engaged in denouncing Gladstone. At the same time it is as good as admitted that their administration in Ire land has been a failure. This con viction on their part would have a tendenc3' to increase the bitter ness. The hberls are biding their time. Tho disestablishment of the church in Wales seems to be a foregone conclusion. Carnegie believe.s that a local parliament or legislature will be conceded to Scotland after Ireland obtains that privilege. The Scotch have not hereiofiMC puhcd this demand with much viuor. But now that the concession to Ireland appears inevitable, Scotland is alive to the advantages of such a concession to th'at ancient kingdom. The concession to Irela"d logically in volves a similar one for Scotland. The result has long been foreseen by main British statesmen. The question has now become larger than its former relation to Ireland. It involves the broader discussion and demand of similar privileges for Scotland. Extensive preparations for the safe execution of the lav.- in the condemned anaechists are beinjr made in Chicago. The. sheriff hasi limited the number of those who will be present at the execution to those whom the law requires to be present and to a very few press representatives. The gloom which has marked the condemned for several days continues to deenen on all except Parsons, who keeps up excellent spirits. TnS FATHER OF MANY H.X.S. Constipation leads to a multitude of physical troubles. It is generally U result of carelessness or indiffer ence to the simplest rule of health. Eugene McKay, Branlford, Ont., writes: I had for several years been a suf ferer from constipation, had taken a great many different remedies, some of which did me good for a time, but only for a time, then my troubles came back worse than ever. I was induced by a friend ; whom Bbaxd reth's Pn.Ls had benefited, to try them. I did so taking two each night for a week, then one every night for about six weeks. Since that time I have not experienced the slightest difficulty whatever, and my bowels move regularly every day. I believe firmly that for sluggish ness of the bowels and biliousness BitAXDitETH's Pills are far superior to any other. Professor David Swing speaks of men who have "an unconscious meinorj-." The Appetite May be increased, tho Digestivo organs strengthened, and tho bowel3 regulated, by taking Ayer's Pills. These Pills are purely vegetable in their composition. They contain neither calomel nor any other dangerous drug, and may bo taken with perfect safety by persons of all ages. I was a great sufferer from Dyspepsia and Constipation. I had no appetite, and was constantly afflicted with Head ache and Dizziness. I consulted our family doctor, 'who prescribed for nic, at various times, without affording more than temporary relief. I finally com menced taking Ayer's Pills. In a short time my digestion and appetite IMPROVED my bowels wcro regulated, and, by the time I finished two boxes of the3e Pills my tendency to headaches had disap peared, and I became strong and well. Darius M. Logan, Wilmington, Del. I wa3 troubled, for over a year, with Loss of Appetite, and General Debility. I commenced talcing Ayer's Pills, anil, before finishing half a box of this medi cine, my appetite and strength were re stored. O. O. Clark, Danbury, Conn. Ayer's Pills are the best medicine known to mo for regulating thc bowels, andforall diseases caused byadisordered Stomach and Liver. I suffered for over three years with Headache, Indigestion, and Constipation. I had no appetite, and was weak and nervous most of the time. BY USING three boxes of Ayer's Pills, and at the same time dieting myself, I was com pletely cured. My digestive organs are now in good order, and I am in perfect health. P. Lockwood, Topeka, Kans. Ayer's Pills have benefited mo wonder fully. For months I suffered from Indi gestion and Headache, was restless at night, and had a bad taste in my mouth every morning. After taking one box of Ayer's Pills, all these troubles dis appeared, my food digested well, and my sleep was refreshing. Henry C. Hemmcnway, Rockport, Mass. I was cured of tho Pile3 by the use of Ayer's Pills. They not only relieved mo of that painful disorder, but give mo in creased vigor, and restored my health. John Lazarus, St. John, N.
