A Common Gold
Is often the beginning of serious affec
tions of the Throat, Bronchial Tubes,
and Lungs. Therefore, the importance
of early and effective treatment cannot
be overestimated. Ayer's Cherry Pec
toral may always be relied upon for the
speedy cure of a Cold or Cough.
Last January I was attacked with a
severe Cold, which, by neglect and fre
quent exposures, became worse, finally
settling on my lungs. A terrible cough
soon followed, accompanied by pains in
the chest, from which I suffered intense
ly. After trying various remedies, w ith
out obtaining relief, I commenced taking
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and was
Speedily Cured.
I am satisfied that this remedy saved ih;
life. Jno. Webster, Pawtucket, It. I.
I contracted a severe cold, wh:-h
suddenly developed into Pneumonia,
presenting dangerous and obstin:r
symptoms. My plrysician ordered the
use of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. Hi-, in

was a rapid and permanent cure.
II. E. Stimpson, Rogers Prairie, 'J ..

Cold, w Inch settled on my Lungs. I con

medicines they prescribed, but received
only temporary relief. A friend induced
me to try Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. After
taking two bottles of this medicine I w as
cured. Since then I have given the Pec

Robert Vanderpool, Meadville, Pa,
Some time ago I took a slight Cold,
w Inch, being neglected, prow vore, and
settled on mj' Lungs. I had a hacking
cough, and was very weak. Those who
knew me best considered my life to bo
in great danger. I continued to suffer
until I commenced using Ayer's Cherry
Pectoral. Less than one bottle of this
valuable medicine cured me, and I
feel that I owe the preservation of my
life to its curative powers. Mrs. Ann

Ayer's Cherry Pectoral is considered,
here, the onegrcat remedy for all diseases
of the throat and lungs, and is more
in demand than any other medicine of its
class. J. F. Roberts, Magnolia, Arlc tt

I have been using Allcock's Por
ous Plasters for the last five years.
Some two years ago, after having
been sick for upwards of six months
with malaria, I found myself with
an enlarged spleen, dvspepsia, and
constantly troubled with a headache,
and my kidneys did not act very
well either. Having spent most of
mj' money for medicine and medi
cal advice, I thought to save ex
pense I would use Allcock's Porous
Plasters, two on the small of my
back, one on the spleen or ague cake,
and one on the pit of the stomach,
just under the oreastbone. I con
tinued using the Plasters about
thirty das, changing them every
week. At the end of that time I
was perfectly well, and have re
mained so ever since.

How a Crane Pished.
"It was about fifty years ago,"
said Dr. J. M. Kendall, of hJow
doinham, the other day. "I was a
youngster, and playing on the
bank of the Kennebec. 1 shall
never forget it in my life, how neat
I saw a crane get a pickerel din
ner. The were driving logs down
stream. I watched a crane acting
sort of funny, standing perched on
one of the logs near the shore. I
made up my mind to see what
'twas about, and hid in a clump of
bushes. The crane had a bug in
its bill and kept dropping it into
the current till it floated past him,
and then he grabbed it again and
repeated the performance. I
couldn't think what he was trying
to do. He looked to me as if he
was .going to sleep. The old fel
low kept the bug floating in front
of the log for half an hour, when
all of a sudden a big pickerel came
up to the surface and made a dive
for the bait. The pickerel was
down the crane's throat in less
than a second, and Mr. Crane
flapped his wings and flew away.
He took the bug in his bill, though.
They look sleepy enough, but they
