When the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Gulf train, preceding tho presidential train, arrived at the trestle between Bonnerville and Jonesboro, Arkan sas, Friday, the engineer discov ered the trestle to be on fire. A correspondent who happened to be on tho train made a careful ex amination of the burned timbers which gave unmistakable evidence of an attempt at train-wrecking. The fire was started on the under side of the cross ties in such a manner that there can be no possible belief that sparks were the cause of it. Further examination showed that a torch had been applied to eight or nine of the" timbers. There are many good reasons for believing that the fiends who set fire to the tres tle had in mind the president's special train which was to be the next one over the road after the one which discovered the fire. Every train man whose opinion the correspondent asked in the matter, said freely that he had no doubt that the intention was to wreck tho president's train. The San Francisco public were surprised last Sunday by the ar resting of Robert F. Morrow and the cancelling of 850,000 bail which he had given in a case wherein he was charged with brib ing a jury.
