Some three months since, says the JVciM, Harry Morgan, who pretended to be deaf and dumb, was caught in the act of robbing a loggers camp near St. Helens, Columbia county. Since that time he has been confined in the county jail here awaiting the ac tion of the grand jurj-. A few days since a true bill was found against him and yesterday he was taken to St. Ilelens for trial by Sheriff "Watts. Since Morgan's incarceration in the county jaii he has been heard to speak a score of times, so that it is certain that his pretentions to being unable to talk is assumed to gain sj'mpathv. From notes written by Morgan it has also been found out that he is a hardened criminal, and that he committed a series of desperate felonies before he came to the coast. His right name is Cos grove. Lots of Salmon. At a picturesque sheet of water lying about one mile from the coast, say's the Yaquina Posly called Devil's Lake, and between the mouth of Salmon and Silelz rivers, salmon are said to be so thick that the settlers drive their wagons right into the lake and with pitchforks load the fish in until the team has all it can haul. The lake s some six miles long by half to three-quarters wide, and is plethoric with trout and other varieties of fish. One of theso days it will become a fa vorito resort of the Yaquina City disciples of Jzak AValton.
