There was an evening session of the
circuit court last evening in which
the fish case3 now on the docket
wore argued.. Counsel for the de
fense took the ground, first, that the
court had no jurisdiction over Wash
ington territory waters; that catchers
of fish in those waters were not
amenable in an Oregon court; sec
ond that the law under which the in
dictments were found is unconstitu
tional being local in its application.
The stato argued the opposite of each
of these propositions. At the close

The "Wrecked Steamship Tacoma".
A correspondent of the Oregonian,
who signs himself "D.", writes from
Drain, Oregon, making inquiries as
to the ownership, etc., ot the wrecked
steamship Tacoma, which sailed from
Tacoma January, '84 loaded with
Carbon Hill coal, and bound for San
Franoisco, but which ran ashore
about five mile3 north of the Ump
qua river. "D." writes that the ves
sel is not more than a quarter of a
mile from shore, aud "stands up out
of the water like a house at low tide;"
that Bhe can be easily reached in
small boats when the water is smooth;
that no one has been near the steam
er since her crew left her; also, "that
it is the opinion of many well in
formed men that her machinery and
possibly the vessel might bo saved."
The letter closes by saying: "It
seems strange that her owners have
not looked after her." The vessel
was owned by the Southern Pacific
JKailroad company and was built to
run between Tacoma and San Fran
cisco. The Verdict Unanimous.
W. D. Suit, Druggist. Bippus, IniL,
testifies: "I can recommend Electric
Bitters as the very best remedy. Every
bottle sold lias given relief in every case.
One man took six bottles, and was cured
of Rheumatism of 10 years' standing."
Abraham Hare, druggist, BellviUe,
Ohio, affirms: "The best selling medi
cine I have ever handled in my 20 years'
experience, is Electric Bitters.'' Thou
sands of others have added their testi
mony, so that the verdict is unanimous
that Electric Bitters do cure diseases of
the Liver, Kidneys or Blood. Only a
