Sore Eyes
The eyes are always in sympathy with
the Lody, and afford an excellent index
of its condition. "When the eyes become
weak, and the lids inflamed and sore, it
is an evidence that the system has
become disordered by Scrofula, for
which Ayer's Sarsaparilla is the best
known remedy.
Scrofula, which produced a painful in
flammation in my eyes, caused me much
suffering for a number of years. By the
advice of a physician I commenced taking
Ayer's Sarsaparilla. After using this
medicine a short time I was completely
Cured
My eyes are now in a splendid condi
tion, and I am as well and strong as ever.
Mrs. "William Gage, Concord, N. H.
For a number of years I was troubled
with a humor in my eyes, and was unablo
to obtain any relief until I -commenced
using Ayer's Sarsaparilla. This medi
cine lias effected a complete cure, and I
believe it to be the best of blood puri
fiers. C. E. Upton,. Nashua, N. H.
From childhood, and until with a few
months, I have been afflicted with "Weak
and Sore Eyes. I have used for these
complaints, with, beneficial results,
Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and consider it a
great blood purifier. Mrs. C. Phillips,
Glover, Vt. -
I suffered for a year with inflamma
tion in my left eye. Three ulcers formed
on the ball, depriving mo ol sight, ana
causing groat pain. After trying many
other remedies, to no purpose, I was Anal
ly induced to use Ayer's Sarsaparilla.
By Taking
three bottlc3 of this medicine I have heen
entirely cured. My sight has heen re
stored, and there is no sign of inflamma
tion, sore, or ulcer in my eye. Kendal
T. Bowen, Sugar Tree Ridge, Ohio.
My daughter, ten years old, was afilict

the last two years she never saw light of

Realism at a Colored Camp Meeting.
The colored camp meeting that
has been in progress in Myers'
woods, adjoining Richwood, Ohio,
for weeks, closed last night in a
sea of excitement by an actual
exhibition of the fatted calf and
the return of the prodigal son,
weary and forlorn, to his father's
home. A big calf had been killed
in the afternoon and roasted in a
trench dug in the ground near the
minister's stand before which it
stood, in naked view, on a rustic
table, when after dark 1,500 peo
ple of all colors and denomina
tions, ages and sexes, gathered for
the evening worship and to see
this weird representation of one of
the most touching tales of the
New Testament. Rev. Daniel
Lucas, colored, of Hillsborough,
was the preacher in charge, and
alter several religious songs were
sung to the airs of plaintive plan
tation melodies, a young colored
man came onto the stage and de
manded of his father his part of
his patrimony, as he was going to
leave his home and go out in the
world to seek his fortune and have
a good time. The minister gave
the young man his part of the es
tate in money, and the youth, with
his carpetsack on his shoulder,
started forth. Rev. Lucas preached
for over an hour an eloquent ser
mou on the old story of the fatted
calf and the prodigal, and just as
he closed he looked out over the
heads of the vast crowd before
him und saw leaning against a tree
his son weeping, and casting timid
glances over to his father's house.
The preacher cried out to him to
come in, and the prodigal went up
onto the stand, and his mother put
a new robe on him, rings on his
finger and wept on his neck. Then
the fatted calf was put on the ta
ble, and the colored folks all gath
ered around and ate the calf
and all the other viands spread
before them. This scene oc
curring in the darkness of night in
the big woods, with only a "few
lights tram torches, and amid the
singing and chantings of colored
voices, which filled the air, was one
ol the mot remarkable sights ever
witnessed, and was hardly sur
passed by any f xhibition of voo
dooism that has ever been seen in
New Orleans. The praers and
shoutings of the blacks added ;.
the mystery, and the white people
looked on with awe and amaze
ment, and the solemn, magical
spell held for hours the simple
minded Africans wrapped up in
excitement and devotion to their
solemn and religious rites. Corr.

PENALTIES OF IMPRUDENCE.
Summer is at hand tlie time of
year when old heads and young be
come imprudent, get overheated,
cool off suddenly, catch cold, head
ache, nervous disorders, and a thou
sand and one other troubles. Preach
ing prudence is played out. The only
thing to "do is after you have con
tracted ono or more of these pains
to cure yourself as quickly as
possible. Small pains are not to be
neglected except at the risk of seri
ous consequences. Bemove them at
once. It can bo dono by an applica
tion of one or more of Allcock's
Porous Plasters, recognized the
world over as the best external
remedy ever made. Mind you, don't
neglect your little ills. They out
grow everything else and if let alone
cost you more than you can ever
know. Bemember Allcock's Plas

has extended to the west, where
land ought to be plenty enough to
prevent it. At Omaha a ten-story
office building will be erected at a
cost of 600,000.
