Effect of Moral Suasion. Major John B. Brockenbough, special agent of the general land office, has returned from an ex tended trip through southern and southeastern Oregon. In that section large areas of government land have been enclosed by sheep and cattle men without the col or or even the shadow of a title. Their motto has been might was right, and they held the land by force of arms against the bona fide settler. Major Brockenbough has been among tho land grabbers try ing the effect of moral suasion, and has met with phenomenal suc cess. "During his me&nderings 50,000 acres of land so unlawfully enclosed was surrendered to the public domain. -'These stock men," the major said, "fully realize that they can no longer enclose and occupy public lands. Though they comply in some cases reluct antly, still they obey the law and vacate when ordered to do so. They fei'l that the land depart ment is in earnest in this matter and in no mood for trifling, and so they obey because compelled to." The Boston Advertiser reports that Iowa farmers are writing to Vermont with regard to purchas ing farms there, and it says that already a movement has set in from various directions that bids fair to settle the problem of the hill towns of New England by re peopling them. From the Uev. John JIathews, Pastor 31. E. Chnrc h. South, at 3Iontpomerj Ala. 'Darbys Prophylactic Fluid is the only medicine kept in my family. We can use it for almost everything burns, bruises, cuts, cuts, stings, ear-ache, sour stomach, etc.. etc. My children, when hurt or bruised, call at once for Darbys Fluid. We cannot get along well without it. It is so valuable for its prompt relief of pain from all kinds of injuries, and also is a powerful Antisep tic and Disinfectant."
