Ayer's Hair Vigor keeps the hair soft !
ami piiant, imparts to ic tne lustre ana
freshness of youth, causes it to grow
luxuriantly, eradicates Dandruff, cures
all scalp diseases, and is the most clean
ly of all hair preparations.
A YPR'Q Hair Vigor lias given me
niull u nerfect satisfaction. I was
nearly bald for six years, during "which
time I used many hair preparations, hut
without success. Indeed, what little
hair I had was growing thinner, until
I tried Ayer's Hair Vigor. I used two
bottles of the Vigor, and my head is now
well covered with a new growth of hair.
Judson B. Chapel, Peabody, Mass.
Lj AID that has become weak, gray,
rirttlB and faded, may have new life
and color rastorcd to it by the use of
Ayer's Hair Vigor. r5ry hair was thin,
faded, and dry, and fell out in large
quantities. Ayer's Hair Vigor stopped
the fallins. and restored my hair to its
original color. As a dressing for the
hair, this preparation has no equal.
Mary N. Hammond, Stillwater, Minn.
lIfSOR yonth, and beauty, in the

be preserved for an. indefinite period by
the use of Ayer's Hair Visor. A dis
ease of the scalp caused my hair to be
come harsh and dryland to fall out
freely. .Nothing l tried sccmcu to ao
me any good until I commenced using
Ayer's Hair Vigor. Three bottles of
this preparation restored my nair to a
healthy condition, and it is now soft
and pliant. My scalp is cured, and it

HOTEL
U. S. OONSTHOTON 0ENTEN1HAL.
Philadelphia. Sept. 15. It is
safe to say tbat there are at least
200,000 visitors from a distance, in
addition to the thousands from
adjacent counties of Pennsylvania,
New Jersey, Delaware arid Mary
land Hardly a state or territory
remains unrepresented.
The streets to-day presented an
appearance lovely in the extreme.
In all directions as far as the eye
could see it was one mass of bunt
ing and decoration. Many news
paper offices and public buildings
made lavish displays, the decora
tors having worked early and late
to complete the work in time.
The procession was intended to
illustrate the advancement of In
dustrial arts and sciences during
the past century, and it is believed
that it fairly eclipsed anything of
the kind ever known.- There were
in line 300 floats, each bearing a
representation of some particular
branch of industry, 12,000 men,
3,000 horses and 150 bands of
music. The honor of leading the
first division was given to the Pa
triotic Order of the Sons of Amer
ica, who presented a beautiful dis
play, headed by a richly decorated
wagon bearing banners with mot
toes emblematic of the order.
The majority of the remaining
floats represented various indus
tries. Among them was a display
showing the progress in modes of
traveling from the revolutionary
era to the present time, by land
and water. The United States
mint had an interesting exhibit.
The government naval display in
cluded a 'model of the first
steamer which crossed the Atlan
tic, model of the United States
man-of-war Hartford, models of
the new cruisers, many kinds of
naval guns and a display of the
life saving apparatus.
The constitutional centennial
commission was ofliceally repre
sented on the graud stand by Hon.
John A. Kasson, president, and
four other officers, who received
seats in front. The central por
tion of the stand was reserved for
the governors of the states with
their staffs. On this stand were
also senators and representatives
in congress, many whom were
present, the commissioners of the
various states and territories, thirty-three
in all, the diplomatic
eorps, the foreign consuls, and es
pecially invited guests of the com
mission. The adjoining sections
contained hosts of distinguished
visitors.
To give an ideoof the enormous
proportions of the industrial pa
geant, it may be stated that at
20 minutes past 2 o'clock only 7 of
twenty-three divisions had passed
the reviewingstand, and by the
time the seventh division had
passed southward the head of the
column had arrived on their return
march, having traveled twenty
three squares south of Market
street. The march was made
without casualties, further than
that an unknown man dropped
dead near Chestnut street, pre
sumably from heart disease, and a
little girl was somewhat injured in
the crowd.
At sunrise this morning the
United States war vessels anchored
in the Delaware river, began their
part in the celebration. A salute
of thirteen guns was fired from
each one of them. All of these
vessels are handsomely decorated
with bunting and flags, and to
night they "were illuminated with
Chinese lanterns. Beautiful pyro
technic displays were made from
all the vessels in the harbor this
evening.
TESTIMOXIAX KIOM ASSEMBLY
MAN BDWAKD A. DABRAGH.
State of New Yobk, Assembly)
Chamber, Albany, April 16, 1884.)
Some years ago I was thrown from
a wagon and fractured two of my
ribs. I was so badly hurt that I had
to sit up in a chair for four days and
nights. The fourth day my mother
placed two Allcock'fl Porous Plas
ters over my broken ribs. The next
day my Bufferings diminished and I
was able to lie down. I continued to
improve everyday. Two weeks after
the accident I got up and attended
to business. I renewed the plas
ters twice, and found myself almost
entirely well in a month, when I
sailed for England.
My wife is subject to periodic pains
in the back that give her rest neither
day nor night, but in two hours after
applying two Allcock's Plasters she
experiences relief, andin two or three
days sho is well. She also finds
them effective in neuralgia and rheu
matism. Eowabd A. Pabbaqh.

George G. Mills, of Olympia, is
in the city to-day, and reports
that in the last few days an order
has been made by the interior de
partment at Washington, D. C,
which enlarges the jurisdiction of
the land office, it now embracing
all that district west of the Cas-
p-nrifi mountains, and south of the
40th standard parallel. This will
give to that district a large por
tion of Chehalis and Thurston
counties, and a portion of Pierce
county. The laud office is to be
removed from Olympia to Seattle
about the middle of November.
It is reported that the railroad
company are having some trouble
in securing- the right of way
across the Tacoraa Mill company's
property in the First ward, lor tne
extension of the track along the
water front. It is also reported
that if satisfactory arrangements
cannot be made the railroad com
pany will construct a tunnel
through the bluff back of the mill,
and thus solve the difficulty.
Blaine a Strong Oantlidate.
Saratoga, Sept. 15. Much side
talk was had here among delegates
to the Republican state conven
tion about the contest for the
presidency in 1SSS. There was a
general agreement of opinion
that Cleveland would be the Dem
ocratic candidate. To determine
who should be the Republican can
didate a canvass was made by sev
eral delegates among their fellows,
which showed that Blaine was the
favorite candidate. So far ahead
was Blaine in this competition of
possible candidates that for a tune
it seemed to the canvassers that
the' would not be able to discov
er any rivals. Senators Evarts
and Hiscock, ex-senators Miller
and Piatt and ex-Gov. Cornell
said they preferred not to disclose
their choice. Others of the dele
gates hid their secret choice be
hind the phrase: "I am for the
nominee of the convention."
Still, most of the delegates frankly
expressed a preference for Blaine.
An Interesting Decision.
Seattle, Sept. 15. In the fall
of 18S1 S. Baxter & Co.'s schoon
er was seized on a charge of un
lawfully smuggling dogfish oil
from British Columbia. The facts
went to show that much of the oil
had been brought over bv Indians
without paying duty. Chief jus
tice Jones to-day granted a non
suit, holding that the fish ojl in
question was of "proper goods and
effects of the Indian-." The case
is of interest from the fact that it
is the first in which this point has
been passed upon by a court of
record m the United States.
