Garibaldi, Sept. 6th. Kinney has his cannery in oper ation on the Nehalem river, and is putting up fish, but not many.. They are running light there as well as here. We had some rain here three or four days ago, but not enough to bring any quantity of fish. Every body seems to think that if we could have about three, days of heavy rain salmon would come more plentiful. The fishermen on Nehalem struck for the same as Tillamook bay fishermen were receiving and got it. They were receiving the same prices as here less transpor tation from Nehalem to the can neries here, which was nine cents per fish. Salmon are running pretty slack yet. Some nights Elmore's boats average fifteen to eighteen fish and some nights the average drops to eight or ten fish. The El more cannery sent out last week, by the Jiosie Otscn, 700 cases and have about as many on hand, now ready for shipment. The other cannery sent out by the Field last week, 1,001) cases and they have 600 or 700 cases on hand, ready for the next boat.
