In an Oil City family is a three-year-old daughter. Sometimes the mother goes out on the porch in the morning to get the paper, and at other times the father gets it. Recently the father and the little girl went out for the paper, and as he picked it up he remarked: "The early bird geis the worm." The following morning he did not make his appearance when break fast was ready, and a member of the family inquired where he was. Little Tot answered up premptly: "Papa is out on the porch reading the worm." Weston Leader: A big immi gration is being made into the Okanagan country and the Salm on river mines. Mr. Wilder, who is just down from there, reports people flocking in from every di rection and the country raoidlv settling up. The mines are prov ing veritable bonanzas, and sever al have refused from $60,000 to HU,U0U for their claims. A paste that will hold firmly, and can be preserved for months in a well stopped bottle, is made by dissolving a piece of alum the size of a walnut in a pint of boil ing -water, to which two spoonfuls ot Hour, made smooth in a little cold water and a few drops of water afterwards added, the mix ture being then boiled. Three thousand men are work ing on the Canadian Pacific snow sheds. They have been working ever since spring and are now nearly through.
