A lady who is fully assured of her own respectability, who has always lived in the best of sooiety, is never afraid to bow first or to call first or to introduce people who may desire to know each other. She' always presumes on her position; but, if she possesses tact, rarely offends by so doing". No one o heart or mind, says a social authority, need feel afraid to talk and be agreeable to guests at a friend's house, whether intro duced or not; even if she meets with a rebuff, she is in the right. In Europe the roof tree is suffi cient introduction, and is so con sidered by many leaders of fash ionable society in this country. This morning Chet Russell, driving to town from his place on Mud creek, saw a lynx in a tree on the Blalock ranch. He seized a monkey wrench, climbed the tree, hit the animal a whack on the head, sending it to the ground stunned, then put a rope around its neck, loaded it on the wagon and drove on. The lynx is big and strong enough to make a good fight, and only a fearless man would be inclined to taokle it without a gun. Walla Walla Journal.
