J. K. Armsby, of Chicago, is in the
city, the guest of Sani'l Elmore. He
is one of the largest operators in
canned goods in the world, and sells
all over the United States tho
product of numerous canneries
whether it be fish, corn, fruit or veg
etables. He has bought about 150,
000 cases of salmon from Columbia
river canners this year and has had
100 carloads of it sent to all parts of
the country so far. He is a jolly
looking and jovial talking man and
doesn't seem to let business cares
keep him awake o'nights. Like all
Chicago people he is loud in the
praise of that bustling city as a great
business center, and tells of selling to
New Yorkers goods that his less
enterprising eastern neighbors find
profitable to handle. He is very com
plimentary in reference to Astoria,
its location, outlook, and business
future, foreseeing the day in the near
future when it will be justified in
putting on a little airs itself. He
leaves this morning for California.
