Generally speaking, blue ryes' signify constancy and devotion to menus. Black eyes denote as a rule sen suous character and an inconstant, fickle disposition. However, there are some noted exceptions to this J rule. The main characteristics of the violet eye, which is called the woman's eye, are affection and purity, chivalric belief, and limited or deficient intellectuality. tjrray ees are the most express ive of all eyes and denote strong qnalities of mind and soul. Per sons with gray eyes usually have a great deal of patriotism. Self-satisfaction and conceit are commonly the characteristic traits represented bv the srreen eve. When the tinge verges onyellow ishness it denotes that the possessor is gifted with strong powers of im agination. The very light blue oye is char acteristic of the northern races, and in a svoruan it suggests con stancy and truth, steadfastness, simplicity, courage and purpose. In a man it is apt to denote a pSilegmatic disposition. Brown eyes are the eyes of the south and east, and denote, as a rule, passion mid lack of original ity. In women they mean jeal ousy and cruelty very often, and in men courage, superstition and mild recklessness. Blue eyes usually go with light hair, but when they go with dark hair and complexion theie is coupled with the affectionate qual ities a tendency to deceive, stimu lated by an ambition for conquest and leading to the gratification of admiration. Hazel is a very difficult coior to determine, there are so many differ ent varieties. As a general rule eyes of this tjolor suggest a good deal of strength of character and generally a sense of miuhicf and trickery. A blue grey with bronze streaks radiating from the center, comes nearest to hazel. In Russia it is said suicides are increasing in number every year. The proportion to the population is now greater in St. Petersburg than in any other European capi tal. Of late years even boys and girls from eight to sixteen uke their own lives, generally on i:.e idea of the cruel treatment of their parents. The causes assigned for this state of things are the wretch ed social conditions of modern Russian I1T0 and the pessimist views and anarchist tendencies embraced bv many in early years. . A difference in local phrases is pointed out bv a western editer: "Busy as a black pig under a chin capin tree" is southern; "busy as a real estate dealer loaded with corner lots" might be said in Kan sas City; "busy as a man eating shad" appeals to Philadelphia tastes; "as busy asaboodler hunt ing bail" is New York or Chicago dialect. THE NATIONAL 1)I8EAK DOWNED. Hundreds of so-called diseases under various names are the result of indigestion, and when this one trouble is removed the others vanish. The best known remedy for indiges tion, according to thousands of testi monials, is one that hs been used in the United States for more than fifty years Bbaxoueth'h Pn,u. These Pills will cure the worst form of indigestion or dyspepsia, and by their use the national disease ih easily conquered. m Of the 0,000,000 women in iir.i zil, only 500,000 can read or write. And in the remote districts, if a man has occasion to leave home, he locks up his house and puts his wie in a convent until he returns. Malaria. Sleepless Nights made miserable by that terriblo cough. Shilolfs Cure is the remedy for i'ou. Sold by W. E. De ment & Co. Hungry Teeth. Teeth are just as easily starved as the stomach, said a Jecturer the other night. The fact is that you and your fathers have from gener ation to generation been industri ously starving your teeth. In one way it is a ble'ssing to have been born of poor parents. What food the poor give their children is of a variety that goes to make strong bones and teeth. It is the outside of all the grains of all cereal food that contains the carbonate and phosphate of lime and traces of other earthy salts which nourish the bony tissues and build the frame up. If wc do not furnish to the teeth of the young that pabu lum they require they cannot pos sibly be built up. It is the out side of corn, oats, wheat, barley and the like, or the bran, so called, that wc sift away and feed to the swine, that the -teeth actually re quire for their proper nourishment. The wisdom of man has proved his folly, shown in every succeed ing generation oi teeth, which be come more and more fragile and weak. Boston ITerafrf. William A.
