Poor Townsend, "W. T., April
6. The bark JEJldorado, Captain
Humphreys, coal laden, from this
place to San Francisco, foundered j
off Cape Flattery April 1, during
a heavy gale. The schooner Fan-1
one JJutard, just arrived, picked
up two of her crew who were
floating on the roof of her after
house, which fetched away when
the vessel foundered. Captain
Humphreys, was killed by a heavy
sea throwing htm against the house
just before the vessel went down.
When the vessel sunk the second
mate and three men were on the
roof of the after cabin. Here they
lashed themselves and floated
around for nearly two days. The
second mate and one man died
from exposure, and the other two
.were nearly dead when picked up
by the Dutard. One of them was
badly cut in the hand by glass
from the skylight. The seamen
saved say that after the vessel
foundered they saw the carpenter
and several men clinging to float
ing timbers from the wreck. The
jrale off the cape at the time of the
wreck of the JzldoradOj was con
sidered the most severe of the sea
son. Twelve men were lost. r
The sealing schooner Champion
belonging to Xeah Bay Indians,
was wrecked east of Nitnat, and
one of her crew of Indians was
drowned. The schooner is a total
loss.
The schooner Fannie Dutard
reports passing floating wreckage
on her way here, consisting of
part of a vessel's hull and lumber.
Victoria, B. C, April 6. News
was received here to-day of the
wreck of two coal laden vessels
from Seattle and Tacoma, the JEl
Dorado and fit. Vincent, off Cape
Flattery. A schooner arrived in
Port Townsend with two men
picked up on a raft, tho only"sur-
vivors of crews. There were four
on the raft two dead and two
alive. The weather is reported to
have been extremely heavy.
Seattle, April " 6. Tho bark
El Dorado, reported lost off Cape
Flatter', left here Tuesday even
ing, March 29, at 5:30 o'clock,
with 1849 tons black diamond coal.
Had a crew of "fourteen men all
told. Her net tonnage was about
JLjUO.
San Francisco, April 6, The
El Dorado was 1,076 tons burden,
owned in this city. She was val
ued at 25,000, partly insured. It
is also reported that the ship fi.
Stephens, from Seattle, March 31,
coal laden, for this port, has been
lost. She is owned in New York.

J. "W. Conn.
New York, April 6. rAnarchist
Most will probably find his way
back to tbe penitentiary before Le
is many hours older, for his incen
diary utterances at Cooper Union
Hall Monday night. The district
attorney has his case under con
sideration. His speech on this oc
casion was quite as criminal as the
one-which caused his former in
carceration at Blackvyell's Island.
The chances are ten to one that
the grand jury will not be long in
indicting him.
f A And reliable Medicines are
tho best to depend upon.
Acker's Blood Elixir has been pre
scribed for years for all Impurities of
the Blood. In every form of Scrofu
lous, Syphilitic or Mercurial Diseases
it is invaluable. For Rheumatism,
has no equal.
J. W. Conn.
The steam schooner Dee arrived
a few days ago at Seattle after a
very stormy passage to Alaska and
the Yukon river. Tho trip con
sumed thirteen weeks and the na
tives said tbe cold of tho past -win
ter was more intense than ever
before known in that region. The
weather averaged 10 degrees be
low during the entire voyage and
there wero two ieet of ice on the
deck load of lumber when they
went to unload at the trip's end.
Elixir is warranted, is because it is
the best Blood Preparation known.
It will positively cure all Blood Dis
eases, purifies the whole system, and
thoroughly builds up tho constitution.
Remember, we guarantee it.
