The tone of the in strument is reported to be not loud but very sweet; and, unlike the short broken note of the ordinar piano, tho sound is soft, full and slightlycontinuouSjicsemblingsome what that of the organ. This modifi cation of lone is ascribed to the even ness of texture of the compressed paper. Minute "Work. Some remarkable representations of a boquet wero made by Henry Dalton, the late English microscopist. Each of them was prepared on glass, from the scales and hair of Brazilian butter flies, and to the naked eye looked like small shot, but tinder a power ful instrument showed eighty-two distinct flowers of various shades and colors. There are some fifty of these microscope slides in this coun try, it is said, and they are held so valuable that money can scarcely purchase them. Floua axd Facx.v of Burmaii.
