Foss, of the Pillcbuck log ging firm of Foss & Andrus, gives us tbe dimensions of a fir tree cut at their camp last week compared with whicb the big tree cut at Jackson's camp on the Skagit a few weeks ago appears to be only a sapling. The tree was perfectly sound and as straight as an arrow, and only one knot could be found on the logs, and that one was a few inehes below the last cut Allowing the usual increase in the diametor above 60 inches (the scale oooks ao not go aoove mat ai ameter) there are, according to the Scribner scale, about 30,000 feet of lumber in the nine logs, or enough to complete a building like the Meth odist church of this place, the dimen sions of whicb are 26x50, with 12-foot walls. So far as we are able to learn, this tree contains more lumber than any other ever cut on the Sound, al though trees of larger diameter on the stump (this one measured about seven feet) aro frequently cut Fo3B & Andni3 have put In several this winter that have contained from 15, 000 to 20,000 feet of lumber.
