STORAGE OF AIX KIXDS.
It pays to keep one man in con

fattening cattle.
It pays to feed meat to the hen3
two or three times a week, as it takes
the place of insect food.
Good corn fodder is anexcellent

"Water containing living fish and
living vegetation is gcnerallv in a fit
state for animals to drink.
If for butter select cows known to
give milk rich in fat. Cows vary in
this respect from less than two to
five per cent. The average is about
three per cent.
If you are troubled with white
specks in butter stir the cream every
morning before it is churned and the
specks will not appear. So a good
butter-maker says.
Eggs contain a large quantity of
water in their composition and hence
the hens should be provided with a
liberal supply of water, which is just
as necessary to eeg production as
the food, and often more so.
When calves are to be weaned and
fed with skim milk the change should
be gradual or else scours may be the
result. Corn meal should gradually
be added to the skimmed milk.
A hill of raspberry plants, after
being trimmed in the spring, should
have only three or four canes, about
three and onrf-half feet high and
nearly one inch in diameter at the
base, each cane having a few side
spurs about ten inches long.
In salting butter one ounce to the
pound is the quantity generally used.
Butter should be exposed as little as
possible to the air from the time it is
churned until packed tightly in tubs,
fit for market. Care should be taken
never to overwork butter, as the
grain and texture should be pre
served. A farmer's wife in Indiana, who
runs the vegetable garden on half
an acre, not only kept a large table
bountifully supplied, but sold last
year more than $100 worth of vege
tables to the town folks a few miles
away. This half acre was of more
profit than any four acres which the
husband cultivated. f Manchester

Cure For Files.
Files are frequently preceded by a
sense of weight in the back, loins and
lower part of the abdomen, causing the
patient to suppose he has some effection
of the kidneys or neighboring organs
At times, symptoms of indigestion are
present, flatulency, uneasiness of the
stomach, etc. A moisture like perspir

itching, after getting warm, is a com

A Mystery.
How the human system ever recovers from
the bad effects of the nauseous medicines
often literally poured into It for the suppos
itive relief of dyspepsia, liver complaint, con
stipation, rheumatism and other ailments, is
a mystery. The mischief done by bad medi
cines is scarcely less than that caused by dis
ease. If they who are weak, bilious, dyspep
tic, constipated or rheumatic, would oftener
be gdided by the experience of invalids who
have thoroughly tested Ilostetter's Stomach
Bitters, they would iu every instance obtain
the speediest aid derivable from rational
medication. This medicine isasearchingand
at the same time a thoroughly safe remedy.
