A bill has been introduced in the Georgia Legislature providing that, from and after the passage of the Act, all male inhabitants of that State who have arrived at the ago of SO years, and who have never married, shall be taxed $2.50 per annum for the enjoyment of this unmarried state, and each year so long as they Bhall enjoy the enviable position in life of singlo blessedness. The meas ure further provides that any bache lor who marries shall at once be ex empted from the tax, while, to quote the language of the bill, "the good ladies of our good and grand old Commonwealth are hereby earnestly requested to join the reformers ana moralists of the country in order to correct this mo3t monstrous and ruinous evil which now stalks abroad in our Sunnv South and would-be virtuous land." Poor ilcn'a Wives JiOveThem IJrst- No woman will love a man better for being renowned or prominent. Though he be first among men, she will be prouder, not fonder; as is often the case, she will not even be proud. But give her love, apprecia tion, kindness, and there is no sacri fice she would not make for his con tent and comfort. The man who loves her well is her hero and kinjj. No less a hero to her though he is not to any other; no les3 a king though his only kingdom is heart and home. It Is a man's own fault if he is unhappy with his wife in nine cases out of ten. It is a very excep tional woman who will not be all she can to an attentive husband, and a very exceptional one who will not be very disagreeable if she finds herself willfullv neglected. Alabama Bap tist. A WonderfttI Orchestra. There is a nightly concert in the lower part of Alleghany by the larg est orchestra in the world. It is composed of at least 300 players, who perform on nearly every known in strument. The hand is well trained, uniformed alike, but has no leaders. The musicians play what they please; they never see each other while they play, and their audience consists of the same people at every performance. The concert begins at precisely G o'clock every evening, and ends at the stroke of 7. At that hour the instruments are carefully laid away and are not disturbed again for twenty-Jour hours. This is according to the rules of the "Western Penitentiary, the inmates of which compose this remarkable musical coterie. Pittsburgh Times. Some Peculiar Effects of Sea Salt. A correspondent on one of the islands of the Gulf of Mexico writes : The Choniere, as well as Grand Isle, was once a sugar plantation, but the force of constant winds, blowing from one point of the com pass, has several times caused the rollers to sweep across it for many days, and this, added possibly to transpiration water, after a time made the saccharine juice more salt than sweet The residents are obliged to either use the wood drifted in upon the waves or bring it in lug gers from a distance. As the salt in the drift wood rusts and destroys the cooking stoves there are none in use on the island. But if the meals are cooked upon an iron frame in a great, wide-mouthed fireplace, they lose none of their savoriness thereby. Cure For Piles. Piles are frequently preceded by a sense of weight in the back, loins and lower part of the abdomen, causing the patient to suppose lie lias some effection of the kidneys or neighboring organs At times, symptoms of iutligebtioit are present, flatulency, uneasiness of the stomach, etc. A moisture like perspir ation, producing a very disagreeable itching, after getting warm, is a com nion attendant. Ulinil, Bleeding and Itching Piles yield at once to the appli cation of Dr. Hosankos Pile reined), which acts directly upon the parts ef fected, absorbing the Tumors, allaying the intense itch mg,and effecting a per manent cure.
