I Hm19III63&s9vP!aifSIc The Pacific Journal learns that the following log camps on and in the vicinity of the "Willapa riTer have bean and are mactivo operation this year. Freeman Albright, at Elk prairie, employing eight men; "Wal lace Campbell," on Fern creek, nine or ten men; m. Walker, at Fork's prairie, three men; James HcGceat Half lloon prairie, fonr men; Smith & "Wilson, on Fork's creek, four men; Giesy & Drissler, on Trap creek, four men; Forney Soule's camp, on the south fork of the "Willapa, fifteen men; "Wm. Ellis, on tho south fork, three men; Ellis & "Weatherfcrd, on the sonth fork, three men; Henry Ellis, on the south fork, seven or eight men; Hastings fc Brown, on tho south fork, three men; McDonald's camp, on Mill creek, four men. The output of logs will not be so large this as that of last year. The rain, which, in the "Willa pa valley, arus continuous on Satur day and Saturday night and on Mon day afternoon and night last, has raised the creeks and rivor consider ably, and some think early rains will cause the loggers to run their logs earlier this fall than usual. There are several "capable women" in Tillamook among them Miss Maggie Fearnside, who superintends her father's home, clerks in his store, and is his bookkeeper. Another woman runs a store, another helps conduct a hotel, another is part proprietor of the toll road over tho mountains, and several are engaged in school teaching. At least ono young woman, MiB3 Lizzie Hoxie, has taken up a land claim near tho bay. has a cabin erected," and will soon securo a title to it. Hew Northwest. Better than She Expected.
