Specials to the ITeics from Eaglo Pass say: An English syndicate, headed by B. E. Symon, vice-president o" the Mexican Central rail-vay, and W. Brodcrick Cloeto, an English nobleman, yester day purchased the Sanohe3 grant of land in Mexico, empracing over 1,400, 000 acres. The grant lies in the vicin ity of Monclova, in tho stato of Coa huila. It is not known what price was paid but a check for S100.000 was given yesterday to Sanchez Novarro, owner, as first payment English now control over 2,590,000 acres of land in Coahuila alone. The same syndicate is negotiating for the pur chase of the Mexican International railway. There is something very mysterious in tho fact that Union county is about $50,000 to $60,000 in debt, yet the annual tax levy is from 25 toJJO mills. There has been no expensive internal improvements, no long and expensive criminal trials, and nothing to create this load, other than the ordinary county business. The county court has appointed a com mittee to investigate' and report the condition of the county, and $10 a day is to be paid two men to look into tho matter until such time as they desire to stop. The news from Granite Creek mines states that miners are making $50 a day to the hand. Two young fellows who had never been in any mines be fore took out S2,000 in seventeen days. The gold is coarse. These mines are situated in the Semilka meen country, near tho American boundary, and not far from tho east ern line of "Whatcom county. Better than She Expected. "Your letter received.
