An Interesting Land Grant Case. Washington, Sept 3. Secretary Lamar has directed Assistant Secre tary Jenks to announce that on the 21st of October he will sit -with him to hear an argument in the Seamans case arising from the Olympia, Washiugton territory, land district. This case 13 one of great importance to every land grant railroad in the country. Seaman3 is a pre-omptor on a piece of land which, in the gen eral route maps of the Northern Pa cifice road, falls in an odd numbered section, and would therefore belong to the company's grant; but the rail railroad company, subsequent to Sea mans' entry, filed plats of its actual route, which would not include it. The question to be settled is whether the railroad company's rights attach to the grant at the time of the filing of the general route 'map, or when the actual definite route is platted and plats filed. The Northern Pa cific attorneys and attorneys for Sea mans will argue tho case, but Mr. Lamar wishes a broadcast advertise ment of his invitation to all other at torneys interested iu the question to bo present on the 21st of October, and offer any argument in the case.
