An ordinance regulating the appoint
ment anil discharge of engineers for the
Astoria Fire Department.
The City of Astoria does ordain as
follews:
Sec. 1. The engineers of the engine
companies of the Astoria Fire Depart
ment suau ue. nominated ami appointed
by the foremen of the respective com
panies, subject to the confirmation of
the. Common Council.
Sec. 2. No engineer of any company
of the Astoria Fire Department shall ba
discharged or removed till his successor
has been duly appointed and confirmed.

sessment made by oruinace No. 825 of
the city of Astoria, Clatsop county, Or
egon, and which ordinance passed the
Common Council on the 28th day of
July, 1885. and was approved on the 29th
day of July, 1885, for the improvement
of Main street in said city, from the
south side of Eighth street to the sffuth
side of Tenth street in the manner pro
vided by ordinance No. 80j of the city of
Astoria, and which ordinance passed
the Common Council on the 13th day of
June, 1885, and was approved on the 15th
day or dune, 188j, on each or the follow
ing described lots fronting on said por
tion of said street, is now payable at the
office of the City Treasurer in TJ. S. coin,

final publication of this notice, viz.,
