About G o'clock on Saturday morn ing last when tho proprietors of the" saloon connected with the Chehalis hotel, at Chehalis. "W. T., arose, the floor and counter of tho saloon were found to be in flames. Tho fire had gained considerable headway, but by prompt and energetic action was ex tinguished. Tho floor and counter appeared to have been saturated with coal oil. About an hour later another fire was discovered under tho house, and was soon put out. Later in the day Mrs. E. Barrett who keeps tho Chehalis house, upon going to her trunk, discovered that $700 had been stolen. This, of course, threw the town into a littlo excitement, and many aro tho surmises, queries, won ders and opinions. Thero is no in surance on the house, but there is on Ihc stock of liquors.
