The people o Grant and Klamath J counties will be much interested in a recent decision by Secretary Lamar in a swamp land case from Califor Califer nia: it ought to strike terror to the souls of tho swamp land fiends of Oregon. After setting out tho facts and citing the statutes on the subject, tho secretary says, "A careful con sideration of all the evidence shows that the said tract is subject to peri odical overflows in the winter or spring months, but tho overflow sub sides so as not to render tho land unfit for cultivation by reason of the overflow. The land, therefore, is not swamp and overflowed land within the meaning of the swamp land act, anl the claim of the state must be rejected." Tim decision will cause to revert to the public domaiu nine tenths of what has been gobbled in this state under the swamp land act There is a poor outlook for hay growers this year. The production last year was enormous and the con sumption small. It is said there are thousauds of tons of Inst year's hay yet unsold. This yeur's production is r.o less thau last year's was. A dealer tells us that there would be plenty of hay for the next year if not over one-fourth of the present crop bo marketed. Prices are lower thau ever before known in this region. Seattle Post-In tdWjcncer. "And is there any cause for this man's removal?' asked tho president ''Cause for his removal!" exclaimed the astonished politician; "cause for his removal! "Why, there are no less than thirteen men to whom I have promised tho place! Cause for his removal! "Well, I should say so! Boston Transcript. Something Tor the Baby. What a terrible affliction about the house is a cross baby! A young man on tho .very edge of matrimony might easily be frightened from his purpose by having too much of that sort of music at the homes of his married friends. Yet babies cry commonly only when they are sick. One tea spoonful of Parker's ToniCj given the little one, will bring rest and sleep to the baby and all in the house. Only 50 cents, at druggists.
