Citizens go armed at all hours, and stores have been cleared out of revolvers. The excitement is caused by Jack Sackctt, alias Bob Milton, one of tho most desperate characters in this end of the state, who is prowling about through tho country at the head of a band of ex convicts. Several attempts have been made by the gang to burn the town, on account of Sackett's hatred to ward thoso here who caused his ar rest and conviction for robbery. Something over four yeare ago, a well known young money lender of this city loaned to an equally well known young man the sum of S5, the latter giving his note for that amount, bearing interest at 10 per cent, a month, to be compounded monthly. The borrower wes putting in an ex tensive crop of wild oats when the loan was made, but since that lime has come into possession of a hand some property, and baa settled down. This morning ho paid tho note men tioned above, with tho interest, amounting in all lo S1S2. "I hardly have the heart to tako it," said tho money lender, but he reached for tho coin just tho same.
