Hera is n. horrible battle picture from Suakira. It is taken from r. let ; ter from nn oiScer in the Scots Guardb. Tho time ot the picture is t the day or iwro followiucr the fight at ' McXeill's zareeba : ' "When ffoing , from Snakim tho last three miles of the march were marked at every step by graves, Arab and Indian, so shal-, lovvthat from all oozed dark and hideous stains, and from many pro-, traded mangled feet, half-stripped, grinning" skulls, or ghastly hands, still clinched in tho death rgony, though reduced to little more than bone and sinew. The ground was .iiaj UIIUUM bUHU v.llll Jliiiiii;. auu , feet draggetl from their craves by the ; hyena?, and the awfal stench nntt i V I will never be for-rotten. as I by any of us. Day by day we passed massed ' ami repassed over tne same sicuening scene with cur convoys, in blinding dust and under a scorching sun. obliged to move at a foot's pace to keep up with the weary camels aud to pick our steps careful1;.' for fear of suddenly setting foot on one of those dreadful heaps of corruption."' Fill in with innumerable kites and vul tures hopping lazily about, gorged with human flesh, and the picture is complete. Pull 2ull Jiuilyd. New York, June 10. Grant is a very sick man. He bears up heroi cally, bnt his appearance shocks those who see him. Por the firstime since he was taken ill, a grdat swelling bigger than a man's fist, almost twice as big, in fact, has appeared on his neck, under the right ear. His face has lost little of its natural ileshness, bnt his bodv is frightfully emaciated, and his long, bony wrists and hands betray tho fact. Every now and then, as he talks, his throat becomes filled with discharge from a sore in the back of his mouth, and he has to stop talk ing and rid himself of the troublesome accumulation. It is supposed the swelling inside his neck is the sym pathetic result of the trouble in his throat.
