A well-known tilanter of south Ar j kausaw, a man who has exhorted at j UiUlC iUVIVUl IUUU uur UhUCi. uiaui I j iu the state, had trouble last week. J vv uiie uaminrr cotton aion" u muuuy , road, one of the steers broke tho yoke and ran away. The old fellow sat down on a lo and said: ' ''Lord, you know pretty well what I have done for the church, and how j many privations I have stood without a whimper of complaint. If yon have j observed me closely, "you know that 1 1 never said a word when my fences were washed away, and that even t when Jo3b Chandler beat me in a law suit I did not murmur, but now, after mature consideration I am compelled to say something. Damn that steer II I think that under the circumstances I am oscnsable. Yery few men would I have stood as much as T have, es pecially a man whose wife is in a flout half the .time, so I submit the ques ques teon: Don't you think I am justified In the course I have this day taken? Here I am, stuck in the mud. By the time I get another team the boat will be gone, and PU have to leave my cotton or haul it back home. If I leave it on tho bank somebody will steal it, and if take it back home Anderson will catch it with a mort gage. So, you see, I am peculiarly situated, and am, before any court in the world, or out of it either, justifi able in remarking, damn that steer." Arkensaw Traveller. The following account is given of tho origin of the term "eavesdropper : At the revival of Masonry, in 1717, a curiou3 punishment was inflioted up on a man who listened at the door of a Masonic meeting in order to hear its secrets. He was summarily sen tenced "to be placed under the eaves of an outhouse while it was raining hard till tlie water ran iu under the collar of his coat and out at his shoes." The penalty was inflicted on tho spot, and the name has continued ever since. "I Don't Feel Like Woik." It makes no difference what busme-s you are engaged in : whether on are a menclipr, a merchant, a mechanic, a lawyer or or a common laborer, you can t do your work well vv bile j on are half sick. Thousands try to. but all in vain. I low much better to keep your organs in good order-bj takimi Parkers Tonic when you feel "a HI tie out of sorts."' Jt would be money in your lKielcet. One hour of goml, rejoicing health is worth half a dozen hours full of languor and pain. The Arab's grind their collee as fine as llour and boil it iu a copper sauce pan without a lid. They would not on any account boil it in a covered vessel, as any lid or cover wonld pre vent "the deleterious quantities from escaping and make the coffee bitter." A Lire Savins rrpsent. Mr. M. E.
