IIOYE DOWN.
The American ship Chesebrouglt,
which went on Clatsop spit a short
time ago, "was hove down this week
on the beach just above "Weidler's saw
mill at Portland. Strong lines were
attached to each of the three top
masts, brought through tackle down
to a barge lying alongside the ship,
and thence to shore, where the ends
were taken around capstans, which
were firmly held by posts set in the
ground. She wa3 laid on her beam
ends without the least sort of a slip.
It is an uncommon sight to look
upon a ship's deck rising horizontally
out of the water, her hatchways look
ing like openings in the side of a bam,
and the foreground composed of a
mass of spars, ratlins and stays, some
in position and some where they
wou't be when the ship is ready for
sea again. For those interested in
the subject, it is worth while to walk
down and take a look at her. She
was photographed yesterday and the
modus operandi can be seen here
after. The damage to the vessel is
much less than at first supposed.
About thirty feet of the lower piece
of the keel from the fore foot aft is
gone, and about twenty feet of the
upper piece against the garboard
streak is split 01T. A lot of sand
washed in, and this fortunately acted
as first-elass calking material and no
doubt prevented much leaking. The
sides of the vessel are not injured to
speak of and the cost and repairs,
outside of the expense of heaving
her down, will be small. As it is, it
will be much cheaper than if she went
into a dry dock. The work is under
the supervision of Captain Errieson,
master of tho ship. ;
PILES! PILES! PILES!
A SURE CURE FOUND AT LAST!
NO ONE NEED SUFFER.
A sure cure for Blind, Bleeding
Itching and Ulcerated Piles has been
discovered by Dr. Williams (an Indi
an Bemedy,) called Dr. William's In
dian Pile Ointment A single box has
cured tho worst chronic cases of 25
or 30 years standing. No one need
suffer five minutes after applying this
wonderful soothing medicine. Lotions
instruments and electuaries do more
harm than good. "William's Indian
Pile Ointment absorbs the tumors,
allays the intense itching, (particular
ly at night after getting warm in bed,)
acts as a poultice, gives instant relief,
and is prepared only for Piles, itching
of the private parts, and for nothing
else.
Read "what the Hon. J. M. Coffinber
ry of Cleveland says about Dr. Wil
liam's Indian Pilo Ointment: I have
used scores of Pilo Cures, and it af
fords me pleasure to say that I have
never found anything which gave
such immediate and permanent relief
as Dr. Vt ilham s Indian Ointment.
Hon. JudgoW.P. Coons, Maysville,
Ky., says: "I have suffered for years
with itching piles, and have used
many remedies. I have used Dr. "Wil
Ham's Indian Pile Ointment and been
cured whilo every other remedy has
failed." For sale by all druggists and
mailed on receipt of price, S1.00.
