He was in the field hunt ing for sheep and when found was a short distance from the house. Frank Smith, Schutz' driver on tho east end of his route, has been miss ing for two weeks and is supposed to have perished in a snowstorm. It has been chinookiug and raining for tho past two days. He and his family had just time to hasten to tho barn, which Btood a distance from tho house and out of rango of tho slide, when his house, outbuildings and land all moved with great rapidity and crash down the in cline into Smith river, and all Mr. Mattison's possessions together with his soil was swept away, loaving him nothing save a pig and a hen which escaped off the slide.
