m 3&c gailtj gatodatt. ASTORIA, OREGON: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 6, VS&i TELEGRAMS AS RECEIVED. Nov. 5. Two hundred voting places in Indiana show a net Repub lican gain of 1,551. This ratio if kept up gives the state to Blaine. Two hundred and five towns and wards in Iowa give Blaine 32,902, fu sion 25,553.. Nebraska gives Blaine 7,285, Cleve land 3,849, Butler 26, St. John 231 in 54 precinots. The state probably give3 Blaine 20,000 plurality. Two hundred and twenty voting places in Indiana show a net Repub lican gain of 1,843. This is 12 per cent of the vote, and if kept up indi cates a majority for Blaine of 4,000. NewYobk, Nov. 5. Twelve hun dred and sixty-nine districts heard from outside New York City and Brooklyn. Of the 727 districts not heard from if they vote as they did in 1880, Blaine's pjurality is set down at 6,000. The indication at this hour (430 a. m,) is that the Republicans have New York by 6,000: Indiana by 5,000: the Democrats have carried New Jersey by 1,100, and Connecticut by 1,500. 530 a. m. Two hundred and sixty voting places in Indiana show net Republican gains of 2,257, nearly ten per cent heard from. In Illinois 422 precincts, including 78 in Cook coun ty and Chicago, Ogelsby, Republican gets 90,911: Harrison, Democrat, gets 88,12L 6 a. m. Two hundred and eighty precincts in Indiana show net Bepub lican gain of 2,315. Have now had 16 per cent of the vote. This indicates the state for Blaine. No figures from Arkansas yet; Lit tle Rock goes for Blaine by 463 ma jority. 6:40 a. m. Returns from Arkansas indicate that the state has elected the entire congressional Democratic ticket and gives Cleveland 20,000 ma jority. In Indiana 340 voting places show a Republican gain of 5,808; Demo cratic gain 3,516; net Republican gain 2,292; 23 per cent of the vote has now been heard from. In Colorado' out of 32 precinots in Denver, 26 give Blaine a majority of 480; 28 precincts outside give a con gressional Democratic majority of 81. 950 a. m. Camden, N. J., gives Blaine 1,500 majority; the county gives Blaine 100 majority. Democrats claim the state by 2,000 majority. In Iowa 383 townships give Blaine 58,715, Fusion 48,333, a Republican gain of 896. 1130 a. m. Four hundred voting places in Indiana show a net Repub lican gain of 2,920. 11 a. m. The head lines of the Chicago morning papers are as fol fel fol eows: Times, "Jim G. is up." Tri bune, "Blaine ahead." Inter-Ocean, "All northern states except Indiana New Jersey and New York for Blaine.' The New York Herald gives Cleve land 193 electoral votes, Blaine 174; New York and California in doubt. The latest reports this morning from New York gives Blaine the state by 2,000 majority. Nook. 123 cities and towns in Kansas" give Blaine 8,228 majority; only smaller' towns are to be heard from. The vote of Kansas City, Tuo., is not yet counted. The indications are that the whole Republican ticket is elected in the county, and a Re publican congressman in the Fifth distric t Ei-miba, N. Y., Nov. 5. Complete returns from Chemung county give Blaine 5,196, Cleveland 4,721; Butler -538, St. John 27L Amot for con gress, "being on both tickets is elect ed. Watebtowk, N. Y.,Nov. 5. Parker, Republican, for congress has 9,000 majority. San Fkaxcisoo, Nov. 5. Later re turns received from the state show that the Republicans have probably elected 12 senators and 45 assembly men. This would make the senate 18 Republican, 22 Democratic. The assembly 47 Republican, 33 Demo cratic, giving the Republicans a ma jority of ten on joint ballot 5 p. m. In Now York 1,614 districts outside New York City and Brooklyn give Blaine 362,878: Cleveland 307,954: Butler 9,449: St John 18,034. In Indiana, 633 voting precincts give a net Republican gain of 509. Indications point to from 1,000 to 1,200 for Blaine. Portland, Ob. Nov. 5, 3 p. jl The returns to-day, point to Blaine's elec tion, fie carries New York by 10, 000 majority. West Virginia gives him a majority; Illinois 20000. In diana shows a Republican gain of 4,77a Blaine will carry every northern state, with the exception of Connecti cut Republican jubilation all over the country. PobtIiANd, Ob., 5 p. m. Blaiie has a majority of 10,000 in New York Btate and is elected. 920 p. at. In New York l,677dis tricts give Blaine 370,502, Cleveland 313,680. 9:40 p. m. Seventeen hundred and forty-two precinots outside of New York City and Brooklyn give Blaine 389,404: Cleveland 332,109- San Fbakoisoo, Nov. 5. Four hun dred and eighteen precincts and forty-three counties in California give Blaine 28,787, Cleveland 24,501, In Connecticut Cleveland carries the state by 1,200. 950 p. m. Five hundred and ninety-two towns in Wisconsin, including over one-half the state, shows net Democratic gain of 8,000. Propor tional Democratic gain in the remain der of the state will give 10,000 Re publican majority. Kansas gives Blaine 50,000 major ity. New York, Nov. 5. The 254 dis tricts not yet reported gave in 1880 a Republican majority of 7,361, and a Democratic majority of 3,118; a net Republican majority of 4,243. 1020 p. m. Five hundred and thirty preoincts in Michigan give a fusion plurality of 2,539. In Indiana 693 voting places show a net Republican gain of 5,574. In Illinois 47 oounties outside of Cook, with 80 precincts to hear from give Blaine 23,223 majority. 1126 P. M. All but four counties in Ohio show a Republican majority of 31,000. New Yobk. Returns from all the election districts in this city give Cleveland a plurality of 43,233. 1130 p. sl Seven hundred and nine voting places in Indiana show a Republican gain of 13,673. If in the mountains of Central Africa prolific gold mines should be found, it would again unsettle the ratio of value between the precious metals. Gold must exist at the sources of the African rivers, from the sands of which gold dust has been sifted for centuries. Every other part of the world has been prospected by eager gold-hunters. If new auriferous discoveries are to be made, they must be mado in Africa. The good ship Tallapoosa has been raised and the country is once more out of danger. So long as our navy was at the bottom of the sea foreign powers could say what they pleased to he. The most singular, and it may be said unsatisfactory, election bet is reported from Yallejo, California. Two citizens of opposite politics have laid a wager which compels the loser to stand upon a conspicuous street corner, and black the boots of pass ers by from seven in the morning to six in the evening. The winner will drum up customers for him. We only hear of Blaine and Cleve land, but there were thousands of candidates all over the Union yes terday who felt elated or depressed as the returns came rolling in. Track on the Cascade division of the Northern Paoifio railroad is laid within thirty-two miles of Yakima. The force is now putting down one and a fourth m iles per day. m Abmstboko is elected by a reduced majority in Washington territory. Over 34,000 votes were cast, 8,000 of which fell from the hands of the fair sex. Coknection between the Oregon Short Line and Oregon Kailway and Navigation will be made on the 14th. Pbbhaps Mr. Fisher will now ac cede to Mr. Blame's request and will burn the "Mulligan letters." And now will come the reasons in column after column why this is IUU3. Occidental Hall!
