I rill show you the method of mes- mGrizinri Trl-i'nh ia norhnns. on the whole, most effective; it is very.ncarly mat described by Braid, witn one hand a bright object, each as a face ted piece of glass, is held eight to tvrelvo inches from tho subject, eo that there is a considerable converg ence of tho eyes, and rather above tho 1pv1 nf flio ovao n that he is pbliged to look upward. The subject 13 una. 10 100K 8teaany as iuo picuo ui glass, and to keep his whole attention fixed upon it. This position is kept for five to ten minutes; during this time the pupils will probably dilate considerably, often assuming a slight rhythmic contraction and dilation; when thi- is tlm mbh the free hand is moved slowly from the objeot toward the eyes will usually close with a vi hrAtnrv mrttTnn Tn onme eases the subject is then unable to open them, ana tue usual mesmeric pnenomena can be obtained. If, when the op erator bring his hand near the eyes of the subject, instead of closing them follows the movements of the fingers, the whole proceeding is re peated, but the subject is told to close his eyes when the fingers are brought near them, but to keep them fixed in the same direction as before, and to continue to think of the object and that only. The operator then, for some minutes makes "passes," bring ing his warm hands over and close to the face of the subject in one direc tion. When the subject is inclined to pass into the cataleptic state, and in dication of his condition may be ob tained by gently raising his arm; if he is beginning to be mesmerized, the arm remains in the position in which it is placed. If the arm falls the mesmeric state may not infre quently be hastened by telling the subject to keep his arm extended while he is still gazing at the objeot, or while the passes are being made. And tViis "q tho Whnlfi of the nrocess. The man thus mesmerized sinks from manhood to a highly complicated piece of machinery. He is a machine which for a time is conscious, and in which ideas can be excited by appro priate stimulation; any one acquaint ed with the machinery can set it in action. Popular Science Monthly for October. PILES! PILES! PILES! A SURE CURE F0U3D AT LAST! NO ONE NEED SUFFER. A sure cure for Blind, Bleeding Itching and Ulcerated Piles has been discovered by Dr. "Williams (an Indi an Bemedy,) called Dr. William's In dian Pilo Ointment. A single box has cured tho worst chronic cases of 25 or 30 years standing. No one need suffer five minutes after applying this wonderful soothing medicine. Lotions instruments and electuaries do more harm than good. Bead what the Hon. J. M. Coffinber ry of Cleveland says about Dr. Wil liam's Indian Pile Ointment: I have used scores of Pilo Cures, and it af fords me pleasure to say that I have never found anything which gave such immediate and permanent relief as Dr. William's Indian Ointment.
