Danford and wife have ab sconded with all tbe assets, including the deposits. D. Ainsworth, cashier, is under arrest, while Danford tale graphs from Yictoria that he is in fine health. The loss to depositors amounts to about $15,000, divided in small sums, mostly among people outside of the town. It does not dis turb business in anyway. Danford failed in Kansas, and would have been hanged by the depositors if Ainsworth had not come to his rescue and ransomed him bv paying up the cow boys. Now Ainsworth is in the same fix, and his life is in jeopartiy unless Danford comes to his rescue and pays every depositor in full. The people are fearfully incensed, and the sooner Danford responds the better for the neck of his friend. England Virtorion. London, Sept. 17. In the rowing match, five miles for 600, at South ampton, the eichteen-oared crew beat by two minutes the cutter's crew of the TJ. S. flagship Lancaster. The American crew of the cutter TJiwle Sam handled fourteen oare. The Southampton crew, although the Americans had a slight lead at tho start, were soon ahead. The victors were winners bv 200 yards. Time, 42 min. 27 sec. Betting at the start was 3 to 1 on the Americans. The American club this evening enter tained both crews. Bailey, coxswain of the American cutter, said the Uncle Sam was never beaten before. Tho crew of tho Lancaster are ready to back the Uncle Sam for from 100 to 1,000 against any other boat in ISngland. The match excited great interest. - m - Alleged Frauds in "Washington Territory. TheS. F. Alta of the 17th says: "The way in which the Chinese re striction act is being juggled in Washington territory is a disgrace to the administration, and a sufficient reason for demanding a change of parties, in order that the law3 may be honestly enforced. An official of the British government in Victoria is authority for the statement that 500 Chinese have been smuggled into the United States from British Columbia during the last six months. Such travesty on the enforcement of the law would not be tolerated arban Francisco, but there seems to be no present hope of checking the frauds in Washington territory, by which oUU Uhinese are illegally added to the population of the United States in a space of six months. -MO---- Beblik, Sept 17. Tne farewell at tho frontier to the Emperor of Ger many, by the czar and czarina, was ot the most affectionate character. The emperor frequently kissed the czarina and Grand" Dnches3, Maria Paulovna. He embraced and thrice kissed the emperor of Austria, the czar and the Kussian grand dukes, and expressed sincere thanks for their hospitality. When the train departed the assemblage cheered the uerman emperor, who stood at a win dow of his car, waving his adieus un til out of sight. New York, Aucust 11. 1SS0. J Messts. Skabcrv & Jou-fso.--, Gentlemen-Like most of my profession, I am cautious about pinning my faith to any new medicino or curative agent. But your BENSON'S CAPCINE POROUS PLASTER has broken through the barriers and won its way to my good opinion. My attention was first called to it some eight months ago by a patient of mine Although I was well ac quainted with tho superior excellence of your other plaster and antisoptic dressing, made especially for tho profession, tho Benson's wa3 comparatively new to mo. I had heard, however, of its morits as a romedy, in cases ofLnmoBack, Local Rheumatism, Neural gia. Congestion of tho Bronchial Tubes and Lung3. Dyspepsia, Torpid Liver and tho like affections, and havo since begun to experi ment with it personally. I find BENSON'S CAPCINE PLASTER an exceptionally clean ly plaster to use. and rapid in its action. Many tests of its qualities, made in my own family and among my patients havo convinc ed me that thero is no single articlo so valu able for popular uso, nor eo helpful in the discasos I havo named. Should you desire to do so, you may use my name to that effect. Very truly yours, II. H. KANE, A. M., M, D. The gonuino havo tho word CAPCINE cut in tho center. Price 25 cents.
