In the bond vault of tho treasury is a quantity of diamonds and other precious stones, which have a queer history. Indeed the facts relating to some of them are scarcely known, aud their historv is a matter of tradition. Their value is variously estimated at from S50,000 to $100,000. There is a bottle four or five inches long filled with glistening diamonds, and, beside these, a large number of separate stones of various kinds, some of them set in beautiful gold ornaments, in tended for personal wear. Most of them have been in the custody of the treasury officials for forty-five years. Thev were sent to President Tan Bu ren "in 1839 bv the Imam of Muscat, a country in Asia, as a testimonial m recognition of some service to the country by his administration. Just what it was nobody appears to know. Van Buren could not accept them for himself, although it was the desire of the donor that he should do so, by reason of the clause in the constitu tion, which forbids any person con nected with the government accept ing any present or decoration from any foreign power or potentate. The entire collection has accumulated in a similar way. Other presents were. sent to government officers by lungs and princes who had not read tbe con stitution of the United States, and nothing could be done with thom ex cept to stow them away in the vault. They do not have any definite owners and they bear about" the same rela tion to the government that unclaim ed packages do to an express com pany. The treasury people have long been in a quandary as to what dis posal to make of them. Two or three times in years past the matter has been brought to the attention of congress, but no action was ever tak en. The man in charge of the bond room said ho was going to make an other effort to have congress do some thing with them, though he has little hope that ho will succed. He says that they are lying around loose and arc a nuisance. PILES! PILES! PILES! A SURE CURE FOUND AT LAST! NO ONE NEED SUFFER. A sure cure for Blind, Bleeding' Itching and Ulcerated Piles has been discovered by Dr. "Williams (an Indi an Bemedy,) called Dr. William's In dian Pile Ointment A single box has cured the worst chronic cases of 25 or 30 years standing. No one need suffer five minutes after applying this wonderful soothing medicine. Lotions instruments and electuaries do more harm than good. "William's Indian Pile Ointment absorbs the tumors, allays the intense itching, (particular ly at night after getting warm in bed,) acts as a poultice, gives instant relief, and Is prepared only for Piles, itching of the private parts, and for nothing else. Bead what the Hon. J. M. Coffinber ry of Clevclaud says about Dr. "Wil Ham's Indian Pile Ointment: I have used scores of Pile Cures, and it af fords me pleasure to say that I have never found anything which gave such immediate and permanent relief as Dr. "William's Indian Ointment. Hon. Judge "W. P. Coons, Maysville, Ky., says: "I have suffered for years with itching piles, and have used many remedies. I have used Dr. "Wil liam's Indian Pile Ointment and been cured while every other remedy has failed." For sale by all druggists and mailed on receipt of price, $1.00. FBAZEER MEDICINE CO., Proprie tors, CleveiiAxd, O. Ills Success Financially and socially are largely due to his excellent health. If his system were closed and feverish, no douht he would fail as so many others do. But why not enjoy good health when one can please the palate at the same time ? Syrup of Figs is not only pleasant to the taste, it also cleanses the system thoroughly, yet painlessly; it is harm less in its nature, and strengthens the organs on which it acta so that regular haoits may be formed, and the sufferer permanently restored to health and happiness. Skabcuy & Jonssox, Gentlemen: Liko most of my profession, I am cautious about pinning my faith to any now medicino or curative agent. But your BENSON'S CAPCINE POROUS PLASTER has broken through tho barriera and won its way to my good opinion. My attention was first called to it some eight months ago by a patient of raino Although I wa3 well ac quainted with tho superior oxccllenco of your other plaster and antiseptic dressing, made especially for tho profession, tho Benson's was comparatively new to mo. I had heard, however, of its merit3 as a remedy, in casos of Lamo Back, Local Rheumatism, Noural gia. Congestion of tho Bronchial Tubes and Lungs. Dyspepsia, Torpid Liver and the liko affections, and havo since begun to experi ment with it personally. I find BENSON'S CAPCINE PLASTER an exceptionally clean ly plaster to uso. and rapid in its action. Many tests of its qualities, mado in my own family and among my patients havo convinc ed me that thero is no single articlo so valu ablo for popular uso, nor so helpful in tho diseases I have named. Should you desire to do so, you may uso my namo to that effect. Very truly yours, II. H. KANE, A. M.. M, D. The genuino havo tho word CAPCINE cut in the center. Prico 2 cents.
