Two farmers, Tom Barker and Sam Piles, became involved in a dispute concernintr the ownership of a piece of land, and finding themselves un able to settle the dispute, appealed to a justice of the peace. The mag iBtrate listened attentively to each statement and said: "Gentlemen, if you dont think that I understand this case, and all the law that happens to hang around its neighborhood, why you are very much removed from your center ot gravity. Mr, Barker you may take the land." "Your honor," said a lawyer who had heard the statement, ''your decis ion is unjust, and I am sure that a higher court will reverse it." 'Now, here," replied the justice, "I am just about as sudden as any higher court you ever saw. I can re verso the decision myself. Mr. Piles, you may have the land. You see it makes no difference with me." Ar kansaw Traveler. An Army on Roller Skates. There is some talk, in army circles, of putting the United States army on roller skates. The idea is a good one. The intricate evolutions a man is capable of on roller skates aro remarkable, and in not 'a few cases wonderfully and fearfully made. An army on roller skates would be more terrible than an anny with banners. Imagine, if you can, tho terror that such a sight would create in the breast .of J an enemy. He wouldn't know how to attack such a crowd. He would see heels in the air, then heads, and then a general mixture of heels, grasping hands and bruised heads. In fact this mix ef position would create a panic in tho ranks of the enemy, who would certainly take to the woods to avoid the wrath to come.
