THE REPUBLIC VJf STATE COKVEJfTIOS A Bepublican convention for the state of Oregon is called to meet at the city of rortiana. urc-p;on, on Wednesday, the 30th day of April. 1851, at 11 o'clock a. m.. for the purpose of nominating candi dates for the following offices, to-wiu Representative in conpress, judge of the supreme conrt, the presidential electors, and district officers for the several judici al districts, and to select six delegates to attend the national Republican conven tion, and to transact such other business aB uiaj' properly come before the conven tion. The convention will consist of 203 dele Rates, apportioned amouc the several counties, as follews: Baker 51 Lake 2 Benton. ..4 -. 9;Luue 1L Clackamas lOJLinn 12 Clatsop GJirarion- 18 Columbia 4Multnomah 35 Coos 6jPolk 8 Crook; 5Tillamook 2 Curry 2Umatilla 12 Donp-las 121 Union 7 Grant fi) Wasco 8 Jackson 6WashinRton 8 Josephine 3 Yamhill 9 Klamath 2j -.Total 20G The same being one delegate at large from each county, and one delegate for every 125 votes, and one for every frac tion over one-half thereof, cast for Hon. iL;0. George, congressman, at the last general election. The committee recommend that the priinarieB be held on Saturday, tho 12th of April, and the county conventions on Tuesday, the 22d day of April, unless otherwise ordered by the proper county central committees. The committee earnestly recommend that the delegates elected to the state convention attend in person, and if not convenient for them to so attend person ally, that they send their proxies by electors of tho county they represent. The Republican voters of the state, without regard to past political differ ences, who are in favor of elevating and dignifying American labor, giving free popular education to the masses of the people, effectually protecting all human rights in every section of our common country, and who desire to promote friendly feeling and permanent harmony throughout the state by maintaining a government pledged to these objects and privileges, arc cordially invited to unite in selecting delegates to the Re publican state-convention. SOL. HIRSCH. Chairman. Portland, Oregon, Feb. 21, 18S4. THE DEMOCBITIC STATE C0SVENTI0X. The state Deniojn.tie convention is hereby called to meet at Dalles City, on Thursday, the 17th of April next, at 10 o ciock a. si., ror tue purpose oi nominat ing candidates for the following effices: Judge of the supreme -court, three presi dential electors, representative in the lower house of congress and district officers for the several judicial districts, and to select six delegates to the national Democratic nomontioii. and oenerallv to to do such other bnsiuesa.s muv of right come before such convention. The committee deem it fitting to pre sent to the Democratic voters of the utate the following consideratiens: We Pee upproaching an election of most vital import to our commonwealth in all its interests, both public and pri vate. Deeming honesty the best iiolic, mid in striking contrast with the course of i the opposition party, we have named an ! erly la for the assembling of the state convention. Uur principles as a party will then be enunciated, and our candi dates placed in the field subject to the approval or consideration of the body politic. Tho variance in the vote of this stale during the past few years, and especiullj the very close contest in tho presidential election of 1880, gives us much hope that, notwithstanding our present mmoritv, with hurmony in our ranks, ami a well directed oxeftion of our strength, we shall carry off tho palm of victo-. But to insure this end it is imperative that all Democrats should contribute their undi vided support and heartv co-operation not onlv in the actual canvass but m its very initiation tho county primaries. e do not presume to trespass upon tne precincts of our popular convention, but do earnest lv invoke all members of our party to put aside past differences and personal antagonisms, to unito m nar monious action in the vanous primaries anu to send full delegations of represen tative men "to attend the state convention. We have deemed it fitting to reduce the number of delegates, in tho hope of secur ing the personal attendance of those to be ohosen. We especially recommend the formation of local club's, where prac ticable, throughout tho state. Believinij that the success of the De mocracy is tho welfare of the p3oplo, we cordially invite all persons, regardless of past political affiliations, who favor sim plicity, economy and frugality in the ad ministration of public affairs to unite with us.
