M. 0. George, congressman, at the last general election. The committee recommend that the primaries be held on Saturday, the 12th of April, and the county conventions on Tuesday, the 22d day of April, unless otherwise ordered by the proper county central committees. The committee earno3tlj recommend that the delegates elected to the state convention attend in person, and if not convenient for them to so attend person ally, that they send their proxies by electors of the county they represent. The Bepublican voters of the state, without recard to past political differ ences, who are in favor of elevating and dignifying American labor, giving free ponular education to the masses of the people, effectually protecting all human rignis in every Heciiou ui uur uumuiuu country, and who desire to promote friendly feeling and parmanent harmony throughout the state by maintaining a government pledged to these objects and privileges, are cordially invited to unite in selecting delegates to the Be publican state convention. SOL. HIRSCH, Chairman. Portland, Oregon, Feb. 21, 1884. THE DEMOClUTie STATU COJiVKiTIOIf. The state Democratic convention is herebj called to meet at Dalles City, on Thursday, the 17th of April next, at 10 o'clock a. m., for tho purpose of nominat ing candidates for the following effices: Judge of the supreme court, three presi dential electors, representative in the lower house of congress and district officers for the several judicial districts, aud-to select six delegates to the national Democratic convention, and generally to to do such other busines as may of right come before such convention. The committee deem it fitting to pre sent to the Democratic voters of the state the following consideratiens: We see annroachinc an election of most vital import to our commonwealth mull it interest, both public and pri vate. Deominc honestv the best policy, and in striking contrast 'with the course of tho opposition party, we have named mi oarly day for the assembling of the state convention. Uur principles as a part will then be enunciated, and our candi dates plaoed in the field subject to the approval or consideration of the body politic. Tho variance in the vote of thib state during the past few years, and especially the very close contest in the presidential election of 1630, gives us much hope that, notwithstanding our present iuiuoritj, with harmony in our ranks, and a well directed exertion of our strength, wc shall oarry off the palm of victory. But to insure this end it is imperative that al! Democrats should contribute their undi vided support and hearty co operation, not only m tue actual canvass out in it. very initiation the county primaries. We do not presume to trespass upon tue precincts of our popular convention, but do earnestly invoke all members of our party to put aside past differences and personal antagonisms, to unite in har monious action in the various primaries ana to send full delegations of represen tative men to attend the state com entiou. We have deemed it fitting to reduce the number of delegates, in tlie hope of secur ing the personal attendance of those to be chosen. We especially recommend the formation of local clubs, where prac ticable, throughout the state. Believing that the success of the De mocracy is the welfare of the psople, we cordially invite all persons, regardless of past political affiliations, who favor sim plicity, economy and frugality in the ad ministration oi puunc uuuira lci mine with US. A EesoiiUte Editor.- I have just got control of this office and have or tiered new type, which is now on the road. My pride forbids me sending forth such a blotched up mess as the Vindicator has been, and good wish ers to a Dooly county paper, I really think would prefer anything to ex cept legal advertisements, etc., to be ing bored with such inferior print as the Vindicator has been for some time. I therefore emphatically say that I have sent forth my last paper until I get my new type, which has been ordered several days, and we may get it in due time for the next issue. However, m the event we do not, you will only receive a half sheet again and agam, for I am done with this old type. Some prejudiced skep tics may look for an apology from me, pleading that my readers bear with mo uutil I get my new type, and bo on. 1 don t reel tnat l am responsi ble for the present state of affairs, neither did I put poor typo here, or place the office in its present bad condition, but am using every mear,s iu my power to change tho state of affairs and make the Vindicator a household word in every family in Dooly county, where the head of which is a genuine true citizen of his county. -Dooly, Oa.t Vindicator.
