It is produced by I occasional pressure from tight or ill-fittinff boots. A corn may be i hard, dry and seal', or soft and j 1 5PonS'j as wneu ifc frms between ! the toes. It may become inflamed, j and even have matter formod be neath it, when the pain is intense. The early treatment is simply to remove the cause and the corn will disappear. Gft well fitting- boots, for boots too loose .in a bad as boots too tight. Thnir up pers should be broml. To eradi cate a corn, the best way is to soak it in warm water, and for two or three nights to keep over it a wa ter dressing covered with oiled silk. This softens the cuticle, and the corn can be peeled .with a knifo, great care being taken that the knife does not go too deep and inflict an unnecessarv wound. After the removal of the corn, appiy soap plaster spread on leather. Glacial acetic acid may be applied and will hasten the removal of a corn. But on no account should lunar caustic be used. It is dangerous- especially for the aged. Soft corns are best treated by placing cotton wool or tissue pa per between the toes where the corn occurs. This relieves the pressure. The corn had better be dusted with powdered starch or with oxide of zinc. When it is thus converted into a dry corn it can be eradicated. Corn, plasters are much appreciated by borne people, and are well calculated to shield the corn from pressure dur ing exercise, pending more radical treatment. The ijreat point is to wear boots which fit easily and well, to wash the feet regularly in tepid water, and to often change the stockinss.-imY Doctor Li Hunir Chanjr srovernor of the southern provinces of China, is just now the man of the hour.
