Keep It to "STourself
You havo trouble your 'feel
ings are injured, your husband is
unkind, your wife frets, your home
is not pleasant, vour friends do
not treat you fairly, and things in
general do not move pleasantly.
Well, what of it? Keep it to
yourself. A smouldering fire can
be found and extinguished; but
when tho coals are scattered, who
can pick them up? Bury your
sorrow. The place for sad and
distrusting Urines is tinder the
ground. A cut finger is never
benefited by pulling off the plaster
and exposing it to somebody's
eye. Tie it up and let it alone.
Charity eover3 a multitude of sins.
Things thus covered aru often
covered without a soar, but once
blished
pu
and confided to med
dling friends, there is no end to
the trouble tbey may cause. Keep
it to yourself. Troubles are tran
sient, and vrhen a sorrow is healed
and passed, what a comfort it is to
say: JSo one ever knew it until
the trouble was all over."
This extreme portion of Texas
is so far from Central Texas, that
it is scarcelv considered an integ
ral part. At the recent election
the. proposed amendments to the
Constitution were not submitted
to the people of this county, and
even its newspapers felt so little
interest in the matter that they
were not discussed. The people
seem to have nothinir in common
with Texas, but are more closely
allied to Now Mexico, Arizona and
California. It is proposed to an
nex this and oue or two ol the ad
jacent counties to Icw idexico.
This would hasten its admission as
a state. But the "carlv settlors"
oppose the scheme. They have
fought and bled for Texas and
have a pride in keepinjr her limits
intact. Their dream is of emoircs
and power. Said an old Texan
yesterday: "In twenty years we
will have more representatives in
congress than iNcw York lias now.
Wo will bo the empire state, con
trol tho politics of the South and
noia tno oaiance ot power, per
haps. It would be a short-sighted
policy to carve up this stato for the
sake of a few Democratic senators.
Texas has a much creator future!"
Not ono Texan in twentv favors a
division of the state.
