No Whiskey l
Brown's Iron Bitters
is one of the very few tonic
medicines that arc not com
posed mostly of alcohol or
whiskey, thus becoming a
fruitful source of intemper
ance by promoting a desire
for rum.
Brown's Iron Bitters
is guaranteed to be a non
intoxicating stimulant, and
it will, in nearly every case,
lake the. place of all liquor,
and at the same time abso
lutely kill the desire for
whiskey and other intoxi
cating beverages.
Rev. G. W. Rice, editor oi
the American Christian Re
viczv, says of Brown's Iron
.Bitters:
Cm., O., Nov. i6,i88i.
GenU: The foolish wast
ing of vital force in business,
pleasure, and vicious indul
gence of our people, makes
your preparation a necessity;
and if applied, will save hun
dreds who resoit to saloons
for temporary recuperation.
Brown's Iron Bitters
has been thoroughly tested
for dyspepsia, indigestion,
biliousness, weakness, debil
ity, overwork, rheumatism,
neuralgia, consumption,
liver complaints, kidney
troubles, &c, and it never
fails to render speedy and

THE LAST SPTKTl.
A Chicago special says
leampd here that active prepara
tions are making for driving the
last spike in tho Northern Pacific.
The spike will be of gold. It is
already made, and is in the pos
session of President "Villard. It
has engraved upon it an inscrp-
tion suitable to the occasion. The
place selcctod for its reception is
about ten miles from Helena, in
the direction of Portland. It was,
at first, the intention of the com
pany to restrict the nnmber-of in
vited guests to100, butarrange-
ments are now being made for
400 people. Quite a number of
these will be from Europe. Invi
tations will be issued from New
York, by president Yillard. A
special train will be made up there
and run direct to the spot selected,
stopping only at Chicago and St.
Paul to take on invited guests.
President Villard will irivi the
spike ther first whack. The spike
itself will not be the only thing
made of precious metal. The sledge
with which it will be driven is
now being made of solid silver
with ebony handle. Both the
spike and sledge, will be retained
as souvenirs by President Villard.
From the site selected a special
train will go to the Pacific coast,
repeating the inspection trip
recentiv made bv Villard. The
exact date is not yet fixed, but it
will probably be in the last week
in August.
