Ho then presented to the association his method of teaching penmanship, in a very instructive way, teaching by the Spencerian system with several additional principles for advanced pupils. This exercise was followed by a method of teaching mental arithmetic by Mr. Caswell which was followed by Miss Lawrence, who gave her method of teaching reading. Mis3 L. uses the word method with good success. Miss Field then gave her method of teach ing geography, Miss F. would require pupils to write out their lessons, whereby they would learn to spell geographical words. Miss Badollet then gave her method of teaching practical arithmetic, explaining how she teaches carrying and borrowing, in the fundamental rules.
