More people have read Tiik Sun during
the year just now passing than ever before
since Ir was lirst printed. No other news
paper published on this side of the earth has
been bought and read in anv year bv s-i
many men and women.
We are credibly Informed that people lmv.
read, and like Tin: Sun for the following
reasons, among olhers :
Becme its news columns present in at
tractive form and with the greatest possible
accuracy whatever lias interest for liunit'n
kind ; the events, the lcls, and misdeeds,
the wisdom, the philosophy, the notable fol
ly, the solid sense, the improving nonsense
all the news of lhe busiest world at present
revolving in space.
Because people have learned that in Its re
marks concerning persons and aflairs Tin:
Sun makes a practice of telling them the
exact truth to ihe best of Its ability three
hundred and sixty-five davs in the year, be
fore election :ts well jls after, about the
whales as well as about the small fish, in the
face of dissent as plainly and fearlesslv as
when supported by general approval. Tin:
Sun has absolutely no purposes to serve.
.Nave me iiiiormaiiou 01 its rcauers ami me
furtherance of the common good.
Because it is everybody's newspaper. No
man Is so humble that Tiik Sun Is indiircr-

Because in politics it has fought for a doz
en years, without intermission and some
times almost alone among newspapers, the
finht that has resulted in the recent over
whelming popular verdict against Kobeson
ism and for honest government. No matter
what party is In power. Tiik Sun stands and
will continue to stand like a rock for the in
terests of the people against the ambition or
bosses, the encroachments of monopolists,
and the dishonest schemes of public robbers.
All this Ls what we are told almost daily
by our friends. One man holds that Tin:
Sun is the best religious newspaper ever
published, because Its Christianity is undi
luted with cant. Another holds that it is
the best lteptibllcan newspaper printed, be
cause It has already whipped half the rascals
out of that party, and Is proceeding against
the other half with undiminished vigor. A
third believes it to be the best magaineof
general literature in existence, because Its
readers miss nothing worthy of notice that
Is current Sn the world of thought So every
fiiend of Tin: Sun discovers one of its man?
sides that appoais with particular force to
his individual liking.
If you already know Tiik Sun, von will
observe that 111 18S3 it is a little better than
ever heroic. If you do not alrcadv know
