It is not generally known, but
statistics demonstrate the fact, that
Ezra Meeker, of Puyallup, is the
largest hop raiser in the United
States. This year he will gather
a crop from D3 acres, the yield
from which is estimated at 150,000
pounds. Next year he will have
about 120 acres iu hops alone.
He has been offered 43 cents per
pound for his entire crop, but this
offer has been refused, as he he ex
pects to get at least fifty cents per
pound for them before the season
is over, ne is now preparing to
gather his crop, but the work of
picking will not commence before
the 15th of next month. Seattle

the Northern Pacific road has been
completed, and the engineers and
surveyors have been ordered bade
on the Green River line. All
that remains now is for Mr Vil
lard to put a force of men to work,
as he has promised to, and push
the road through by the first of
next January. A good route font

construction will not be nearly so
much as was at first expected.
