In fact, there is no such thing among Democrats in this state as a "boss." Those who would like to be. "bosses" have taken warning from the deserved fate of John Kelby and others, and concluded to be governed and guided by the great, good judgment of the masses of "he partvas expressed fully and openly in the primaries and con-jnn( ventions of the nartv. Hence erats of Oregon are to-day. Up to the present time, no Democrat, so far as the writer has been able to learn, has expressed a desire to become a candidate for any state office. t. is true that the great mass of the party is fully and ear - nestlv discussing the question as to wlmni ilinv xvill infill rnnrli. ,lw .,,J mBm. Among Republicans there is not much said about candidates out side of Portland and Salem. In the latter place a clique has been formed between the present in cumbents of state offices to secure nominations for re-election. Mr. Earhart is very anxious for re-election and is bonding even nerve to secure a nomination at the hands of his party. He is not near so popular as he was four years ago, though those who know him best say that he is vain enough to think he is. Your correspondent, while in Salem, heard many Republicans complain that Mr. Earhart had j made too man v promises that he had j failed to fulfill to make it safe to .
