W. W. T11 iyi:i:. By tho Governor, It. P. E.vnn.UiT, Sec. of Stat Topographical Similarity. The master of the schooner R. B. Hardy, now lying at Portland, com menting in the Oregonian on the re semblance between the entrances to Shoalwater bay and the Columbia, says that the mistaking of Shoalwater bay for Columbia river is no new thing and may be very easily done, for the similarity is very striking. In the first place Leadbetter Point, or as it is often called the peninsula, is al most a duplicate of Clatcop beach aud Point Adams. The Wiilapa hill back of Shoalwater bay resembles Chinook Point. There is also a saddle moun tain that shows in clear weather south of the bay, that corresponds exactly with the one south of Astoria. And, finally, Cape Shoalwater, although not resembling Cape Disappointment when nearly approached, yet when seen from a distance of 18 or 20 miles, could be easily mistaken one for tho other.
