loaded entirety at Astoria with
wheat and flour, and now draws
twenty-two feet as ready for sea.

wharfage here of twenty-fire cents
per ton, amounting- to tli sunt of

This ckarre, il is claimed, is an
unreasonable and unwarranted
charge; not customary at this port
nor at -Portland. As the dock that
the ship has been loaded at is
wned and controlled by a Port
land company, it is thought that
the exaction of this charge is a
direct thrust at Astoria's shipping:
a thing gotten up t discourage
any other vessels hi the future
hartering for Astoria loading.
There hare been quite a number
f vessels loaded entirely at As

Derbyshire. Amongst them may
le named the Lanarkshire, Glen
peris and Scottish Bard. None of
these vessels, we are told, hare
