The Sunny Clime, published at
Terrell, Texas, is a mighty good
paper, and said the following about
the Boomerang the other da
Just fancy Jolly Old, the wicked
editor of the Sunny Clime, as Kit
Adams, the dear, good soul of the
Modern Argo, dubs us; running
his eyes eagerly and -with their
pupils dilated, over the well-filled
columns of the Weekly Boomerang,
breathing, as it were, the life of
Bill Nye, a man who is known to
be a big, tall, awkward-looking
person, with a heart of the largest
size, aiid to have given the people
fits of laughter until the reddened
in the face. "We are glad to read
in the Boomerang one of the
brightest, freshest and most origi
nal humorists of America; and
hope for longevit' under the vital
izing influence of Kyes jokes, unap
proached and unapproachable.
The editor also asked us i'i a
pleasant, gentlemanly .Vhy to ex
change. So we wrote a nice,
cheerful letter, as near as we can
remember, something like the foleowing:

your paper and palm off on your
subscribers as your own. That 's
the kind of an old, bald-headed
smipe of the alkali swamps that you
are, is it? I never saw you, but I
can picture you in my mind's eye
sitting in 'our three-legged chair,
with your feet up on the hat-rack
and your coat tails in the cuspi
dore. You're a healthy old snooz
er from Bitter creek, very evident
ly. Perhaps you'd like to trade
your old rattle-trap semi-annual
for" a library of 50,000 volumes.
We haven't seen vour old tract,
and we don't want to. Now, put
that in your pipe and smoke it, you
cross-eyed old bow-legged rooster
from the rural districts. Life is
too brief to be frittered awar on
every little one-horse editor, who
ought to be hoeing corn or mash
ing squash bugs, instead of ekeing
out a miserable existence as a lit
erary curiosity. Hoping you will
accept the above in a friendly
spirit, you old bald-headed, glass
eyed relic of antiquity,

Last night we got a copy of the
Sunny Cline. It is edited by
tvro brown-haired,dimpled-cheeked
girls, with great liquid pleading
eyes, and voices that thrill the
heart like a blessed memory. We
feel that perhaps we would have
written differently had we known
all this before. Somehow our let
ter seems rough and uncouth now
that we know more about the
circumstances. There are passages
in it that grates harshly upon the
ear when we come to read them
over again in the chastened light
of more mature reflection. Still,
we were annoyed a good deal the
day we wrote that letter. A man
had asked us to die, and endow an
institution for the encouragement
of young men who part their hair
in the middle, and a subscriber in
Delaware had witten us to print
more Delaware local news or he
would stop the Boomerang, and
we were feeling bitter toward ail
mankind. That, however, was no
excuse. It has been a valuable
lesson to us, and shown us that we
must govern our fiendish temper,
or some day we will overdo this
thing and get licked till our sys
tem won't hold our political
opinions.
A Lobbyist

The President did a very un
wise thing in .writing a letter to
the republican caucus urging the
confirmation of Robertson, for, of
course, that is the particular individual-referred
to in his general
remarks. It is the Presidents
business to make nominations;
when he undertakes to lobby
them through the senate he de
grades his office and himself.

structed to copy into a book to be
kept in his oftice, all bonds and oaths
no such petition presented to this
board.
Ordered, that J. L. Stout return to
tho auditor of Pacific county the tax
list and warrant issued to the super
visor of Peninsula road district No. 1,
for the year 1881, and thereupon the
auditor is instructed to furnish the
supervisor of Tarlett road district No.
9 with an additional list of the assess
able property annexed to and by the
change of the boundary of said dist
rict No. 9; and it is ordered that said
Tarlett district pay all indebtedness
of said Peninsula district prior to the
division, made Slay 5, 1881.
Ordered, that Osborne Goulter bo
appointed supervisor of Peninsula
road district No. 1 for the ensuing
year.
In the matter of the petitions for
tho division of South-bend school dis
trict No. 11, it is ordered that the pe
tition bo not grauted, for the reason
that a remonstrance has been present

The Count Cinchon was the Spanibh
Viceroy in Peru in 1030. The Counters,
his wile, was prostrated by an intermit
tent fever, from which she was freed by
the use of the native remedy, the Peru
