JAN. 4. 1BS1 by the ladies of Astoria most assuredly deserves special remark. To say that it was successfully managed ali throughout, and that every person present enjoyed themselves, is but a tame way of expressing the matter. It gave the gentlemen an opportunity also to realize the situation of a lady more fullj when engaged ahead for four or five sets. The music was good, and the supper j prepared on the stage, was excellent.. The various committees having the matter in charge are deserving of great credit. Very many gentlemen in attendance request U3 to return the ladies "heartfelt" thanks for atten tions and the pleasure afforded by this party. Common Council.
