in the Union Square green room

in affected horror at her widely ex

Philadelphia, June 11. About
1 1 o'clock to-day lightning strack
the large warehouse at the oil
works, and the entire building was
soon in flames. The fire spread
so rapidly that the whole neigh
borhood is endangered. Due'hnps
fronting the warehouse are in
flames. Shipping in the Schuylkill
river is burning fiercely. The At
lantic petroleum storage com
pany's warehouses and offices were
completely consumed. There .are
plenty of engines on the scene;
but still at th's hour the fire is rag
ing fiercely and is not under con
trol. Five vessels have been en
tirely burned. The property of
the oil companies in jeopardy is
valued at over 2,000,000.
