"Since the election resulting in
the adoption of the new constitu
tion, a project has been sprung 'to
organize a new party to be called
the constitutional party, with the
object of electing legislative and
-state officers, and will proceed to
p-.it in force the provisions of the
new instrument. At a meeting of
ward presidents of the working
men's party and at the sand
lots, this proposition was emphati
cally negatived. Newspapers
which denounced politicans who
had sought to sustain support of
the work irigm en's party, 'by advo
cating the new constitution, were
soundly rated and it was resolved
that the workingmen would enter
into no combination, but fisrht the
contest out on their own line.

A City of Caves-
Texas Letter to tlic St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
Away out on the Texas frontier,
and in the eastern margin of that
vast desert expanse, the Llano Ss
tacado, sixty miles north of the
little town of Graham, there settled
a colony from Oregon consisting of
nine families. The locality was
distant frem market, and lumber
scarcely to be had. The settlers,
therefore, as the cold northers of
winter were approaching, deter
mined to build habitations under
ground. They selected a hill, in
whose sides they excavated rooms,
halls, kitchen and sleeping apart
ments, not unlike the ancient
dwellers in the rocks of .Tudea.
A chimney was formed by run
ning a stove pipe up through the
hill to the surface. The dwellings
are perfectly dry and warm in the
coldest and most freezing norther.
The little citr of caves has been
named Oregon City, and will be
the capital of Taylor county.
The sign "Blacksmithing by Car
ine and Nellie Blair" ia over a door
in Lousville. A Courrier- Journal re
porter looked in and saw Miss Carine
at work. "She was a blonde, her
complexion beinjj ;is fair as that of
any petted belle, and the lovely tinge
of pink and red which spread over
face and neck not onry served to
heighten her natural beauty, but gave
evidence of robust health. She was
dressed in Turkish trowsers and
loose blouse coat. Her sleeves were
rolled up to her elbow, exhibiting a
beautifully rounded and snowy-white
arm. As she stood, with lips tightly
compressed and brows knit, raining
hard and well-directed blws upon the;
stubborn iron, the reporter thought '
and so on. The picture & Miss. Carine
applies to Miss Kellie, f-for they are
twins.
rNot long ago a man was run over
an drilled by the cars at Evanston,
near' Chicago. The iody was iden
tified as that of Josiah Hill, of South
Bend, Indiana, who had been at work
on a -farm. The -widow and daughter
were broken down after the inquest,
(which found that "Josiah Hill came
to his death accidcntly.") Several
days later, Mrs. Hill went to the
farm for her late husband's effects.
When she approached the farm house,
there was her husband quietly at
uork in the banryard. She fainted,
and could with difficulty be induced
to believe that it was only a very
strange case of mistaken identity. As
for Hill himself, this was the first he
had heard of his own death.
When Boynton has finished his
trip down the Mississippi he will tr$r
to shoot Niagara, if some blood-thirsty
Nihilist or other don't shoot him.
